Borderlands 2 perfectly balances being both serious and extremely unserious. One moment you can be following an emotional story arc, then completely pillaging some psycho's lunch money the next. It also breaks the 4th wall every 5 minutes just to roast you for whatever reason(s). At its core, Borderlands 2 feels like that one friend who enjoys spending time with you, but who will also throw you under the bus for comedic effect. The world feels extremely alive, almost in an uncanny way. I was shocked to see just how much Gearbox was able to cram into its extremely small file size. And I will admit I underestimated it based off this fact. But after having beat the story multiple times (including DLC), I can safely say this game is nothing short of planetary proportions.
