Blub Emporium is a super cute shop management sim where the player gets to take control of different aspects of production, including a farm and a factory. The factory can be a fun bit of puzzling to identify how to set up industries to produce products for your shop. Earn money from Blubs so you can buy items and decorations. It's a lot of fun decorating and making your shop, farm, and factory look the way you want it to look. The game is a relaxing treat! Gameplay Video https://youtu.be/3OW8vIDckcE
After posting this review I have since conversed with the developer. The factory mechanics that were bothering me were explained. We talked about how players might benefit from having access to that information. We also discussed the need for some wiring that functions a bit differently. I believe they plan on implementing that in the future. After this exchange I feel reinvigorated to play again! I'd also like to recommend it! ---- Preserving initial 'not-recommended' review----- I regret this game purchase. There is a lot to love here but it's greatly hindered by a nitpicky and tedious automation system with "hidden" mechanics. After watching the devs youtube video, joining the discord server and reading all the steam forum responses it's clear to me that the dev would rather double down on the "slow game length" and wiring system instead of making it even slightly less convoluted. I enjoy puzzles, and I even enjoyed this games puzzles until later game automation kicked in. Are there people willing and able to spend hours burning through resources and testing automation builds? Yes. Does that make a good game worth recommending? Only to a very small niche audience...of which I'm not a part. Hopefully more diverse wiring options become available in the future. I'd like to revisit the game and actually have fun. My last 10 hours in game were spent trying to manufacture omni-matter using a complicated system of timers and conveyor belts. I couldn't help but wish for some more wire types or even perhaps a conveyor belt that allows power to pass through. I'd even be willing to grind out money to pay extra for those items if it meant having an easier time running my factory. Dev, please, multiple people have asked for this. A shorter game is not a worse game. My review would be a glowing YES if these changes were implemented.
