Fairly janky, lots of bugs and crashing. The environmental story telling is great and the level designs are nice for the first half. Half of the game is unbelievably boring with tons of chase sequences and boring physics puzzles. Got 85% through the game and just couldn't finish it. Would probably give it a 6.5/10

As a long time fan of the franchise, it took me awhile to warm up to this game. I always used to think that there's no beating the original. But after putting many hours into it, I must admit now that this is a damn fine remake that truly surpasses the original. Of course, the OG Half-Life still holds it's significant place in gaming history and Black Mesa wouldn't exist without it but this game improves upon so much while still retaining everything that made the original great. I could write an entire essay on everything this remakes does that I appreciate but I want to keep this review as succinct as possible. This is the definitive way to experience the first chapter of the Half-Life saga for new and old fans alike.
