I am a sucker for escape room games and this one was a delight to play and figure out how to solve. Keep in mind that it's co-op required, so you can't play it without a friend. If you get stuck somewhere, there are notes all around the place hinting at what you should do next. Your goal is to escape under 72 hours (which is 1 hour and 20 minutes in real-time). At the game's end, your skills will be heavily tested, one of you will face a difficult typing puzzle, while the other will need to know how to parkour and have a good aim under pressure. You'll need to choose your roles very carefully. And don't feel discouraged if you don't escape on your first try, this game is all about learning from mistakes and doing better next time. My playtime may look very low but I am one of the playtesters for Black Lotus Motel, I have played that version for a total of 21 hours. During the playtest period, the developer has been very responsive and friendly during our interactions. He would join our Discord streams (and watch us play for hours on end), see what new bugs we've discovered, and in a few hours (or up to a day) he would implement the changes. He is a very kind person and we've had many good laughs together. I find the game concept to be very unique, and I honestly wish there were more games like this out there because it was really fun to experience and it gave me some nice memories that I'll forever cherish. I know for sure that I am gonna miss the Motel. Maybe we're not meant to ever escape it? I am currently holding the record for the fastest escape (53 hours left): https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2800544330 Overall, I've enjoyed sinking dozens of hours with multiple of my friends in the Motel. For a solo dev game, this was very well made! I'm hoping A3 will surprise us with more gems like this one. And if you have any feedback, the developer is very active on their Discord server and is always open to new suggestions.
I'm an achievement hunter!
Approx. amount of time to 100%: 10+ hours Estimated achievement difficulty: 9/10 SteamHunters 100%s at the time of writing: 2 completions I've written a guide for the playtest, which should remain relevant for the full game as well: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/achievementscouts/discussions/0/3040480988276513118/#c3088898048355965169. This game is gonna be a challenge to 100%. The puzzles might seem simple at a first glance, but you'll need to memorize the paths and finish everything in ~25 minutes, with very little room for mistakes. Communication is a must. It took us 18 hours to unlock every achievement in the playtest. after investing hours and hours on the playtest and then finishing the final build of the game, i still maintain my positive opinion, i can't say the game is perfect, it has its problems and it is in some way a bit clunky but it's totally playable.(the only thing that bothers me its the lack of FOV settings) the puzzles are not hard per say, its more about how the players coordinate and do things as fast as possible, making this game a gem for speedrunners, some may be a bit buggy but that might be tied to ping now the part that i really dig and can speak about, the art direction is quite different than most games out there, that might scare some people off but i find it pleasing unique, i like the strong colors and trippy vibe ( i would definitely change some color palletes, but that's me ) the artwork on graffiti and puzzles are really cool as well, always having that creepy vibe to it. overall kuddos to the art direction. audio... overall its good, i like the themes and audio EFX quite simple and pleasing and it serves it purposes to keep you on your toes on the final section. Do i recommend the game ? yes of course, its a great coop experience that will test your friendships to the limit, besides the problems i can see its a labour of love from a very commited developer that listened to us during development, i really want to see what he can come up with next, i see this game as a taste of what can be achieved by A3 in the future.
Such a fun puzzle co-op experience. Immediately wanted to play through again, and puzzles are all randomized so its got nice replayability for going through it multiple times. A new favorite of mine.
Black Lotus Motel is a fun 2 player Co-Op game with a fair prize. Gameplay: It's less about solving puzzles where you have to think a lot (you still have to figure out what to do ofc) and more on just communication, reaction time, memory & fast input. Especially if you go for the Speedrun achievements. Playtime: It will take you around 5 hours to complete the game. Including all achievements maybe around 10h? My own playtime is this low because i already spent 19 hours in the playtest.
I drank so much alcohol my screen became 3 giant pixels and all I could hear was my friend trying to get me to stop drinking. 10/10 would fail this escape room game again.
Absolutely cannot recommend this enough if you enjoy Escape Room style games this is a MUST to play with a friend. The Puzzles are built in a way that they're all different and it's so much fun replaying the game over and over again. It's short and worth every moment. The price it's at is a STEAL for a game like this it should be priced at least 5x more. I'm going to gift it to friends to make up for such a cheap price THANK YOU DEVS!
You and your friend are stuck in a room. It won't take you too long to escape this room, but can you escape the island before the time limit is up? An an escape room style game, Black Lotus Motel does a good job of expecting both players to communicate and solve puzzles together. It's a positive, fun kind of stress :). It took my friend and I three attempts to make it to the end of the game, and it didn't feel frustrating as we made mistakes along the way that we could improve in the next run If you and a friend enjoy frantic puzzle solving and escape rooms, give it a shot! Just don't drink TOO much
Great escape game to play with a friend! I really liked the achievement hunting. You need solid communication between you both. We tried a couple of times before getting it right. You must like exploration games to enjoy it.
I'm not done playing this, but holy cow, this is AMAZING. This is the coolest game I've ever seen. I'm not joking. Effortlessly, ridiculous cool. It's unique, stylish, and electrifying. From the moment you load in, the soundtrack pulses, filling you with a sense of urgency. The color scheme is vivid, neon, and aggressive. The puzzles are simple enough, but they feel immensely rewarding when finished. I hope there is eventually a sequel to this, and that this game eventually gets the recognition it deserves.
Recomendado. ENG: Good little escape simulator style game to play with a friend (it is CO-OP ONLY) it is quite difficult, with a friend we failed at the first attempt, it is very good that it really forces you to communicate and coordinate with your partner, it's not just each one doing his puzzle like others. The price is cheap, so it is ideal to buy and give as a gift. Recommended.
