Quite a charming experience with interesting worldbuilding and some minor bugs. It makes you feel as if you are in a small snapshot of something far larger than yourself. As a fan of Hellstar, I liked the art; unique and beautiful. I only wish it were longer. The second ending is very abrupt. It is like an upper tier itch.io game.
In English Birdhouse is a somewhat bizarre game, and the ending is left open-ended, without telling you anything, but it was actually fun to play. It's quite short; you can finish it in 40 minutes. The gameplay is pretty basic, it was made in RPG Maker, so it's mostly story. Nothing special, you just interact with the environment and pick up some pages from the book to delve deeper into the story. The story is actually quite easy to understand. It starts with you doing what your mother tells you to do, and then after a few days, things get a bit bizarre; the whole thing about entities and God is kind of... But as I said, the ending leaves open what happened to the girl. Because you get a bizarre egg, to me that egg is an entity. But in the end it was worth following her story. The art in this game is really beautiful, the devs did a great job, the cutscenes are really pretty, and for an RPG Maker game it's quite decent. It was definitely worth seeing this beautiful art. The music didn't really grab me, and there aren't many songs either. So it's all good. I really don't know what else to say about this part of the game. And in the end, the experience of playing a game for the story was worthwhile. Even though the ending was open-ended, I know I talked too much about it. But I wanted more explanation of what happened to the men.
A short but satisfying RPG Maker horror game. The art is beautiful, the sound design is fantastic (I love the opening tune), and the plot being more atmospheric leaves a few ways to interpret what happened. Unfortunately my game regularly crashed and froze on a black screen, sometimes you need to be pixel perfect in front of objects to interact with them, and sometimes it was unintuitive to figure out what to do next — the later two ended up being immersive for Wick's mindset but that seemed incidental.
Really loved this game, it was really short though. It had a very creative and interesting way of building up a hierarchy and system of how deities work, how they compare to gods, and what rogue deities are. Really loved the world building and I am a sucker for eldritch stories/universes like this.
