BiblioMania is a multiplayer 2D platformer where you are a clerk in a cursed library. Work with (or triumph over) up to 3 friends while taking in and renting out books to many clients. But beware the events that happen at the library, they can change everything.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. Copies below reflect the player base, not paid sales.
Note: Dead multiplayer game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There's no players, no populated servers. This multiplayer-only game cannot be played as intended.
This game, BiblioMania, is a multiplayer 2D platformer. You play as a clerk in a cursed library, interacting with clients and managing books. The subject is a cursed library with various in-game events. Gameplay involves managing a library, renting and receiving books, and facing chaotic events. The game supports up to four players in cooperative or competitive modes, with maps featuring unique challenges. You should avoid this game, as it is a simplistic, repetitive experience that is not likely to offer long-term enjoyment, based on the description of the game and features listed on the Steam page. This is a little differentiated from your average shovelware platformer on Steam... no, not because it's good, it's definitely not that, but because there's a multiplayer element and an element of "work" in that instead of just jumping from a-b, you have to collect books and give them to customers in this cursed platformer about a cursed library. Regardless of the concept being slightly different, this was a dismal failure, most certainly because of the pixelcrap. So, "BiblioMania" is a dead multiplayer game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! The chief cause of failure is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst multiplayer centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. On pricing, this is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 12 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
Multiplayer doesn't seem to be implemented at all. I pressed invite and nothing happened. It is impossible to finish the tutorial properly, after a minute or two into the tutorial the character stops responding to keyboard inputs. It could be a nice little game, but I cannot really recommend if you want to play a multiplayer game.
