With all the initial negative reviews on this game, I almost didn't buy it. The truth is that I love space shooters -- ever since I was a kid. With the price down to $4.00 and a recent update that fixed the controls (the biggest complaint among many early reviewers), I decided to go for it. Well, it turns out that I was happily surprised by this game. Foremost, I love the graphics and the space shots of this game. The initial cutscene was just awesome. I also enjoyed blowing up the bad ships since it has such cool explosions. There really is a lot of eye candy in this game. The controls have definitely been fixed and you can mostly use a gamepad (I'm using a wireless Xbox 360 controller). It still needs some polishing (i.e. the tutorial still requires you have a keyboard even though you're using a gamepad) but I had no crashes and almost everything played well. One time the maneuverability of my space ship slowed down and I couldn't tell whether it was intentional or a glitch. I found the level of difficulty not too hard or too easy. I would say it plays more like an arcade game and less of a simulation (I hate complicated space simulations). Nonetheless, it was definitely enjoyable so far and I didn't find it repetitive. I look forward in playing this game some more and I'm definitely hooked. Therefore, if you were initially disappointed by the early reviews, I say give this game a shot since you might be pleasantly surprised as I was. Again, it needs some tweaking and polishing, but overall I'm really enjoying the game. It is definitely worth the price and then some! 4 out 5 stars!

This game looked like a great deal, so I purchased it. But then, some real world events kept me from giving it a try. By the time I wasted nearly an hour of my life on this game, it was too late for a refund. Don't make the mistake I did, save your money.
The voice acting and writing is horrendous, the controls could be tighter, and it crashed quite often at the 4th mission. The space surroundings were decent, the music was pretty good and the space-sim/arcade action was ok, but there are better games like this out there, like Tachyon, any Wing Commander or I-War. Overall a crap game, that could have had potential, if it had more polish. Do not buy
I launched it and it was about 33% larger than my monitor overlapping right and below. So I thought, ok... I will watch the intro and then change the settings. Launch complete, click on settings and I can change key bindings, language, and sound levels. Nowhere can it change resolution or even full-screen. Given it's impressively bad reviews, that was enough for me. I was not going to try and do their job for them and shoehorn the window into my screen. FAIL.
My experience of Beyond Space Remastered Edition.. 1. Load game, check options, note nothing worth changing, click the "!" button, below settings button on the main menu and game crashes to desktop. 2. Load game again, play missions 1 through 5, note rather dodgy controls, but start becoming accustomed to them. 3. After mission 5, I realise that the Hanger / Ship customisation section of the game has had no work done on it from the games mobile port and trying to make changes without touch controls on a screen/monitor are both tricky and frustrating. 4. Start mission 6 and complete the first two sections of the mission, upon passing through the second jump game, my game crashed to desktop. 5. Reloaded the game, selected continue, entered the hanger and the game crashed to desktop. 6. Validated local game files through Steam, one failed to validate and was reacquired. 7. Reloaded the game, selected continue, entered the hanger and customised my ship, started mission 6 and the game crashed to desktop. 8. Restarted my PC. 9. Reloaded the game, after the initial loading screen the game crashed to desktop. 10. Uninstalled the game, rebooted and reinstalled the game. 11. Reloaded the game, selected continue, entered the hanger and customised my ship, started mission 6 and the game crashed to desktop. 12. Checked the discussion boards for the game, noted that I am not alone with CTD issues and that the Dev stopped responding to comments in Dec '15 and that the game had not been updated since Aug '16. 13. Write review advising that if you are brave enough to purchase this game make sure to play it as soon as you buy it and be prepared to refund it.
Positiv: - gute Grafik - Intro Negativ: - Alles andere d.h.
Utter trash, do not purchase. It is clearly designed for mobile devices and even the "Remastered" version is junk. The controls are like flying a breaking brick, the game has no graphics options what so ever so you can't get rid of the screen tearing or the awful jaggies. Seriously, develop it for PC an not port a title that was on a mobile device. Ugh.
Can we have Wing Commander, Mommy? - No. We have Wing Commander at home...
Gameplay is repetitive, and the mechanics are so basic you can't even successfully mix & match loadouts for each battle mission. Whatever possible charm the preposterously cheesy dialogue could arouse, the impenetrably nonsensical plot, the broken difficulty achievements, and perpendicular difficulty curve between Normal and Nightmare will instantly obliterate. Literally any other space sim is more worth your money.
