A short short game, really short i mean. You can finish it into 1 hour or less i think. I liked the mysterious atmosphere, the enigmatic ambience. Basically, a walking simulator, we can say that, but the music and the graphics are really nice, the voices as well, they make you live this experience in a very intense way. But it's really hard to get attached to your character, i really didn't like him aha The story behind all of this comes out step by step, slowly you start understanding what happened, and it's a bit cliché but it was ok for me. As short as it is, it was a nice experience for me anyway. Don't expect too much. Still worth a try at sales price!
I'm not sure what to make of this. At the beginning I was curious about the story but it turned really twisted with a father saying dark things about her daughter, and the daughter saying to the father "you can't tell me what to do, you are not my boyfriend"... what? Also, you are introduced to a backstory about the neighbours and the girl's crush but it never develops, I don't know why they are even mentioned. I don't know what else to say... I'm sitting here trying to make sense of this all and I can't.
I don't easily downvote a game but, seriously, this game almost made me vomit. And I'm not talking about the fact that it's totally overpriced for a less than 1h game with bad graphics. I understand it's not made by professionals and in the end a good game doesn't need to be long or have good graphics to deliver a good story. But the story is exactly the problem: The game doesn't know what it wants to be. It's a bit father-daughter-story, a bit apocalyptic end-of-all-human-beings-story and then there is also this weird story about the neighbours which is just totally unimportant in the end. These weaknesses are tried to be covered up by delivering a brutal shock twist in the end. But what was really disgusting was the very weird picture the developers obviously have of gender roles: Following sentences are part of the game "You can't tell me what to to, you are not my boyfriend." "I wish I had had a son. I could tell him '♥♥♥♥ as many girls as you like'. Rotten world." Wtf??... I wonder in which century the developers live. The end also totally fits in this strange picture of gender roles:
The good ending shows the girl dressed in white and totally innocent 'again'. She got raped and died before and with commiting suicide the dad 'frees' her from her sinful death. Because we all know, that raped girls are dirty. Furthermore the dad made an abolutely horrible decision. A decision no dad would ever make and also doesn't fit his overprotective character that is pictured in the game. This decision just gave him the opportunity to run alone into a postapocalyptic world. Good deal! By no means was this realistic. Justified is this by him being 'weak'. Earlier in the game he is, apart from other things, afraid of deep water to state out his weakness. What a weak person, isn't he? The good ending implies him being 'strong' by shooting himself. I get the point that he needs to face his mistakes but why this weird association of weakness and strength all over the game. I can't get rid of the feeling that the overall message should be that, as a man/dad, you need to be strong.
Follow "First Person Exploration and Puzzle Games" for more games like this!
A walking simulator telling the story of a family. This is a hard game to review. It's not good enough to deserve a thumbs up, but it's not bad enough to deserve a thumbs down. The story is good in theory, but the way it's presented is sloppy and confusing. The game only lasts 45 minutes, so just as it starts to get engaging, it ends immediately. Ultimately I had to ask myself "if a friend asked 'should I buy this', what would I answer?". The answer is, no, I'd tell them their money is better spent elsewhere.
really effective game
I could go into what is good and bad/pros and cons, however in a walking simulator there are only two things that matter - graphics and story. In this the graphics are just average. The story....... What story? This felt more like a sales pitch one would give a production company when they want to make a game. It was a synopsis with so many holes and gaps, it felt like the writer didn't have time or was not ready to put any effort into it. The decision the character made that is the centerpiece of the story isn't entirely shown to us. We only know what he decides, but we know nothing of what led to him making the decision he makes. The lack of info on his motivation gives us no right to determine how to judge him. It touches a very touchy topic. This is something some may admire for the risk of it, but that does not change that they did a terrible job. It came nowhere near using it to its potential. LATER NOTE (SPOILER): Thinking through this more, I have to come out and say I'm not just disappointed. I am flat out against this. It is promoting someone taking their life out of guilt! In other words this is promoting suicide!!! I hate to consider what someone struggling with self-hatred and suicidal thoughts would do in response if they played this!!!!! This is simply wrong! Does no one else notice what this is saying?
Disastrous optimization, i gave up after 15 min or so. Too bad..
Behind the Memory
This walking simulator had a pretty dark story at the end. Perhaps that's the reason this game isn't any longer available for sale on Steam.
70 perces belső nézetes sétaszimulátor a Behind the Memory, Unreal motorral hajtva. A történet egy elég labilis fickó viharos magánéletéről szól, egy hatalmas járvány közepén. Miután a járvány véget ér, a főszereplő visszatér, hogy megpróbáljon találni valamit, ami megnyugvást jelent neki a múlt borzalmait illetően. A játékos előtt hamar világossá válik, mi is történt, és lehetőség adódik arra is, hogy ítéletet mondhassunk főszereplőnk felett. Szép környezet, egy-két ijesztő pillanat, kellemes atmoszférájú hangulat, és lelkileg nehéz történések. A zene fantasztikus lett.
