Beat Boxers is the world's first Rhythm-Fighting Game. In order to win, players have to attack to the beat of the music. The closer you hit to the beat, the stronger your attacks. Keep up the rhythm and outplay your opponent!

(My fighting game background is in anime fighters such as Melty Blood & Arcsys games, and I've been a rhythm game player my whole life. I'm also a musician. I feel this background is important for what I'm going to say.) The little bit of this game I played shows promise, but also brings to mind a few cracks in the system. I think the rock, paper, scissors system you have can be very easily manipulated on a meta/community level. Blocks beat attacks, attacks beat grabs, grabs beat block. 99% of fighting games essentially have that system as apart of their bigger system. But because that's essentially the game's only system ignoring the rhythm for now, it's extreme basicness becomes it's weakness. Sure it creates very basic mind games, but the meta game would very quickly sort those out and create one clear, best option. This brings us to the rhythm section - The rhythm is a very simple 4/4 tempo, non-changing with a visual cue. If your goal is to hit on/near the beat, and you're both _playing the game as intended_, the character with the fastest frame data on their attack wins every single time. This creates a situation where you either give every single character the same frame data, or you diversify the characters & risk there being a very clear "best" character. It's also very unclear to me how "close" i ever am to the beat on a very very minor level. I only ever see Green or Red to signify whether it's a Yes or No, but the lack of micro-level feedback can just make it confusing for me. As I said before, I take rhythm games & fighting games more seriously than the casual people this game is aimed at. Just know this game is so casual on both fronts that you really can't play it like you'd play either of them. It's definitely unique. SHOULD A CASUAL PLAY THIS?: Uh, maybe? It's free, you don't have anything to lose. You might get something out of it if you're COMPLETELY new to both genres. SHOULD ENTHUSIASTS PLAY THIS?: Probably not unless out of curiousity. SHOULD YOU KEEP AN EYE ON THIS?: If it's continually updated, definitely!

Unpolished game with great potential. I really hope to see it consistently updated because this game can go somewhere. For now though, it'll sit in my inventory.
intresting concept which needs a lot of polish i hope to see this game updated in the future but for now its a quick one and done still giving it the recomend becuase of what it could become
I enjoyed it quite a bit from the time that I played. If this was fully developed i think it could be soooo good but right now its ok ( i would still recomend you to try it once, it will only take about 1 min to download) the importing songs option is an amazing adition, cant wait to whoop friends whilst listening to christian metal bands. There are a lot of problems with the game tho, but im sure lots of these will be fixed later on, if the devs are still planning on working in the future. looking at the publisher Im guessing its from a university couse, and it shows , but it also shows that these are some talented pupils. Give em a big boy pass!!!

Found out about this game from this weeks Super Best Firends fistacuffs and I got to say like them I see alot of promus in this game. Granted this is by no means a finished product but for what was said to be a school projuct this shows great promus and I hope to see this conset taken and run with I truly think the creator is on to something. The main thing Id love to see put in is keymapping so I can better set things up with my fightstick.
It's a good concept, but it lacks enough substance right now to warrant a download even as a free title. If the developers polish and add more to it, I'll gladly change my reconmmendation. They should at least add a single player option, but right now it only seems to have local 1v1.
I've just started messing with the custom songs, seems pretty easy i popped in a Jojo oppening and it worked great. I think addint he ablity to have ana ccompanying video or a second stsge that allows that would be good and having the characters be more fluid my moving on half measures might be cool. If you stipulate that every song has to be in 4/4 time then you can make animations that go into the 16ths or 32nds ( not thats playable just that you can probably have animation frames running at 32nds) Anyways i see a lot of potential....but number one has to be some kind of training mode or an AI and maybe a waveform to accompany the bpm in the composer setting anyway seems fun i wanna see how it grows
