battleMETAL is a successor to the 90's mech games, a cross between the mech-piloting of Mechwarrior 2 and ferocity of Quake. Command a massive warmachine bristling with firepower as you blast through a war-torn world.

Game seems promising though I do have some issues with it. I haven't played too much yet but here are my thoughts: I would like a bit more customization than the game currently seems to offer. I prefer the mech movement where you turn the body rather than strafe. At least the light mech doesn't feel very stompy, maybe the bigger ones will remedy that once I get them though. These are all "I" statements so this might be a matter of taste or a matter of development. Things felt like they went a bit too quick while the time to kill was still very high. I will still recommend the game as I want more to play it and see how they feel about it and because it's pretty much the only game in its genre except for MW5 and less said about MW5 the better. Editing this review to say that the issue I had with Time To Kill does get better with the bigger mechs when you have more guns to bring to bear, or maybe it's just a skill issue for me with the scout mech you get first.
Unfinished, models do not animate (mech legs not moving and such), UI is often unresponsive, and numerous crashes during menu transitions. I can put up with a few glitches and quirks, especially for a solo project written in a Quake sourceport. But this is too much to be fun... needs more time in the oven.
I don't really get it. first 3 missions are just run to navpoints ignoring enemies. 4th mission i wasn't able to kill one enemy before my weapons all overheated (or whatever happened) and then there was like 6 others surrounding me and i'd have to leave and let the mech cool down. i also didn't know if any of these mechs were the ones i was supposed to be fighting. so i gave up.
Could use some polish. Seems like some mechanics and controls don't even work. Had to restart the program half a dozen times just to try and finish the first mission. For $1 fine if you're a fan of this kind of thing and like jank.
I approve.
this game is quite a rough gem,at first you may feel combat feedback are weak and kind unsatisfied, but once you get pass that ,it become quite engage, find you self stare arming page, carefully choose your weapons and make the loadout to suit your mech combat style, control your mech feel great ,each one have different feeling, some nimble and fragile, other move like your are pilot heavy armed forklift with ten minigun both top and sides, for a person work on free time to make this kind level of game ,i have to say i am admire dev dedicated and they vision of this game ,if you like starsiege (not starsiege tribe, the mech-sim one) and mechwariorr 2 or just want switch for different kind of shooter, i highy recommend this one。
It feels like a mech, sorry, METAL, mod for Quake, kind of obvious since it uses the Darkplaces Engine. And I mean this in the most positive way imaginable. The game is still quite rough around the edges: hit feedback is a bit lacking, occasionally resulting in frustrating deaths and having to restart the mission. The pacing of the game is also a bit off, since the first missions can be quite difficult, while the last ones are rather easy. But on the other hand, just like its big inspiration, Mechwarrior, it is very cool to tweak the mechs, try different weapon configurations, and just walk around in a big robot and shoot at other big robots.
Mechwarrior had a baby with Earthsiege and it's got fast gameplay with WASD/mouse controls. Sure, it's got some rough edges on it, but the love that's gone into this project really shows through!
While this game still feels very unfinished; I absolutely love what it's trying to achieve, and i'd love to see this game reach it's fullest potential.
