A solid return of a classic strategy game with a lot of charm. Battle Nations blends base-building, resource management, and turn-based combat in a way that feels accessible but still tactical. The mix of traditional military units with absurd choices like mammoths and dinosaurs keeps battles fresh and lighthearted. The campaign is surprisingly story-driven, with humor and memorable characters, while multiplayer and guild features add long-term replay value. Progression is steady, and the freemium elements are present but generally fair. A good choice for players who enjoy strategy games that don’t take themselves too seriously, but still offer depth and variety.
I hope someday we get a full paid version of the game that removes nanopods and the ridiculous grind like other mobile games (Townsmen and Plague Inc for example) have done for their PC ports. The setting, art and characters are all pretty good, but the gameplay loop quickly becomes mind numbing bc of the grindy balance. Paying a full 50 bucks of premium currency (nanopods) dosent even unlock every building and unit, so its not worth considering as an alternative. I cannot reccomend it at all sadly for these reasons. I played it back in the day and returned to it for nostalgia, but i think i'll be dropping it again soon given the problems ive described.
And so begins the wimp grind again o7 Edit: The grind is complete o7
as much of an enjoyable massive nostalgia trip this game is, and absolutely mega job from Madrona, the game 1 year on from its re-release remains a very Pay to Win game, with massive repetitive grind ladders to climb irrespective of the money you spend. new Devs refuse [or so it seems] to make any effort to actually solve the problems of the game, inherited or otherwise and only seem interested in releasing the old content without any concern for balance or technical debt [which I've been told is massively inherited from Z2]. Do Not recommend this game.
The king is back! Goated TBS from way back when. Hoping to see them balance weaker and obsolete units to warrant their nano cost. Lots of fun playstyles to be had if more units were as usable. A clearer roadmap would also be a big plus.
Not as good as I thought it would be, Very boring
🙏boss drop please
For nostalgia, yeah for new players? probably not
