Really fun game, enjoyable progression, and music is very nice too. Would recommend!
Arcade, rogue-like, bullet hell, ... All of these genres typically result in me spending less than an hour in a game before becoming bored, overwhelmed or frustrated. I did like Vampire Survivors, but wasn't good enough to ever "beat it", i.e. kill Death, as it had a monstrous difficulty spike intended for players to optimize their builds, update paths and plan ahead -- all of which I am terrible at, as I tend to be a more "react to the current situation" player. BALL x PIT avoids the endgame frustration by being relatively easy to "complete" (meaning to see the credits), but so engaging and motivating in its gameplay and variety that at least I continue to play the game long after see the boss. Unlocking those final ball or passive combinations, seeing a death loop in action (I know about the "instant death" combo and managed to do it once, but for me The Tactician + The Empty Nester + a ton of Offspring x Hemorrhage balls is pure dopamine!) and just playing around with the different combinations of characters is immensely fun. I also think the achievements are very fair and, in fact, achievable, so I will try to 100% this one.

I couldn't put it down once I started a new game. It's tough at first but as you upgrade, progress the town and understand the mechanics and combos you start in a stronger position each time. Eventually you can start runs with 2 characters instead of 1 which coupled with all the combos and balls that have been added you can make some truly broken builds. It's a truly amazing game with meaningful progression, amazing combat and a wide cast of characters to play with. Just a small rant the only negative thing I have to say about the game is I despise 3 characters because they were a slog to play and to me they just don't fit in with the rest. They are The Cogitator which chooses upgrades automatically, this wouldn't be a bad thing if the AI actually chose good combos and didn't ruin good builds with stupid decisions. The Tactician who turns a fast paced bullet hell game into a turn based shooter which ruins the atmosphere and turns every run into a slow paced drudge. I genuinely don't understand why this is in the game. Finally The Radical, it's The Cogitator on steroids, it literally plays the game for you, I want to play the game not just have the AI do it for me it makes the game even worse as you need to pair The Tactician & The Radical to make the game go by as fast as possible because it's just so boring otherwise
MUITO BOM E VICIANTEEE
One more hero, one more evolution, one more building. Great formula to keep you engrossed in the game
I love balls
This is a gem. There's surely enough reviews on this already, but as an oldschool fan of breakout-style games all the way back to Atari Breakout or Pong, I feel at least semi-qualified in saying that this a fleshed-out take on an old genre done very well from top to bottom. What stands out to me specifically: 1) Gameplay feels simutaneously zen and chaotic - and I mean that in a good way. Fluidity of control - movement and aiming - somehow, just feels fantastic. I expected to feel a bit overwhelmed by everything on the screen as it progresses, based on videos I'd watched. But no - at least for me, it's felt quite the contrary! Everything just FLOWS so damn well. In part I'd attribute this to the well-thought out and logical use of effects warnings and colour - even for a new biome you quickly assess what's happening and what to do... but it is surely also the music, which brings me to (2): 2) The soundtrack is really well crafted for the game. Thoughtful use of rhythm mirrors the pacing of game play, and at times outright synchs with it, but in a low-key way. Subtle changes to synth voicings across different biomes manages to retain coherence across the soundtrack and yet still bring flavour to each new area. (I really liked the vaguely organic tones in the mushroom biome for example). It's so well done - and contributes a lot to the overall "stay focused, yet relaxed" feel of gameplay, 3)I love the use of pong mechanics as a means to upgrade the base. Wasn't expecting that. A mini-game in itself. 4)YMMV but I find the difficulty scaling to be quite smooth; though I admit certain characters are not my favourite in terms of how their mechanics work. (That said, one of my least favourites - the "back of the field ball launch" - makes quick work of bosses that rely so much on frontal attacks/blocks.) Since bonuses are attached to clearing each area with more characters, its worth it to just embrace them all and figure out ways to make them shine. I really like the gravity path-bending character as something I hadn't seen before. Further into the progression, you can have them team up in creative ways. Easy to pick up and put down - for my schedule that's a plus and for this price, Ball X Pit is WELL worth it. Thoughtfully crafted, cute, fluid, fun, and great music to go with it.
BALL x PIT is an insanely addictive and perfectly designed game. Brick breaking with a heavy dose of Vampire Survivors type progression just works so well. The sound effects and presentation add a lot of weight to it and make it feel absolutely epic. Building your town and harvesting resources in between runs makes you want to just do one more round to keep progressing. Different characters you unlock can radically change how the game plays, and make a big difference in the type of items you want to take during your run. Perfect Steam Deck game, but I think anyone who likes survivors-type or roguelite games will love it. It's cheap and there's a big DLC expansion coming soon, so do yourself a favor and buy it!
