Just a super well rounded rogue lite with a unique theme administered to it. They took time to go over technical parts such as city building and what not. It really keeps the player involved more than just shooting the balls.
Macht mega Laune. Spiele hauptsächlich auf dem Steamdeck. Nach Brotato mein next "to go " Game auf der Favoriten-Liste.
I knew Kenny Sun was onto some good stuff when they made Circa Infinity, but Ball x Pit is a whole other level of awesome. Pros: + Addicting, hard to put down. + Great presentation with both excellent pixel art and awesome music + It's got a good combination of skill-based Arcade ball-shooting game as well as Roguelike progression and runs. Cons: - The base building part. It sucks, it makes the game take longer, we really don't need it. 9/10, I'm glad this was another big hit for Kenny and Devolver.
This game is a roguelite version of Arkanoid (or whatever other name the classic brick-breaking game might be known as) where the bricks are monsters and the player destroys them by throwing balls at them. The "roguelite" element consists of picking up new balls and passive abilities during a stage, as well as unlocking new balls and other power-ups while outside stages: this is done by building a town where each building grants either an upgrade (like the number of balls the player can hold) or a new character to play as. Characters also have personal abilities that will influence the gameplay: some launch balls in different ways, some launch multiple balls at once, some play the game by themselves and one even changes the game to be turn-based (so it effectively becomes a roguelite reimagining of Puzzle Bobble/Bust a Move). That's not even counting that both balls and characters can be combined: two balls can be fused together into a single one that has the properties of both, and some can even spawn brand new balls like how the "iron" ball and the "fire" ball can evolve into a "bomb" ball. Characters behave the same and bring both their unique abilities to a stage. I've played the entirety of this game on a Steam Deck OLED with no issues whatsoever outside of one stage where I tested a spammy combination of balls and characters and the screen got very busy. Aside from that, I've had an extremely smooth experience and completed every achievement after around 42-43 hours, though I'd argue one may need even less than that. There are plenty of combinations possible, and I think the game is both well-made and unique enough to warrant a try. It has a demo, too, and I encourage trying it out first, but the game is a clear thumbs-up for me.
I understand that "it's not a game for me" is probably not going to be a very convincing review. However, I have been convinced by games in genres I couldn't stand before playing them. Grim Dawn is a perfect example of that, as I absolutely despised aRPGs before buying that game for the lols. Now I own all 4 DLCs of it with 400+ hours in, and double dipped in the same way for my partner so that we could play together in the future. In other words I try to keep an open mind. BALL x PIT from the get go just doesn't feel good to play for me. It's just way too clunky. Hence it failed the famous concept of a 30 second game loop, at least for me. I suggest you try it out to see for yourself, but I just can't recommend it from where I stand.
Great game for the steam deck. Exactly what it looks like. Buy it.
Хороша гра, збалансована. Цікава прокачка, приємний візуал, не затягнута. Почілити після роботи - те що треба.
