Platformer that offers the expected gameplay across its 50 stages, nothing new or exciting. However, this must be one of the rare games where hard difficulty is easier than normal. The goal in each stage is to reach the goal without dying. Although there is a death counter, it is meaningless because there are no rewards for completing all 50 stages unscathed. UPDATE: the latest patch added several achievements for finishing the game without dying. Each stage is played out on a single screen that is covered in the typical obstacles like spikes and pits. To break up the monotony, a single platforming element is added every ten stages, although it doesn't feature any new environments or mechanics. Moreover, additions are simple. The most frustrating is water. Once you jump in, the ball slows down significantly and you can swim up without limitations. However, since you can’t swim down, you need to let the ball sink on its own. This was the main reason for my huge death count because it’s a pain to avoid fast traps while swimming like a snail. Stages are played without any loading. New layout shows up as soon as you touch the finish line. This is a smart design choice because you’ll be dying a lot. While the first half is pretty simple and designed to help you familiarize with the game, the second part increases the difficulty. It will be challenging to reach the finish line without stepping on at least one spike because stages contain increasing numbers of traps. In this game, it's common to finish a difficult part but fail the final jump that forces you to restart the entire stage. In normal mode, you must complete a stage within the available time. You can choose the easy mode, which does away with the timer, for a more relaxed experience. On the other hand, you can try the hard mode if you desire the increased challenge. Here you need to finish all 50 stages within a very short time that can be increased by collecting a clock in each stage. But it turns out that compared to normal difficulty, hard is a piece of cake. You'll have more than enough time to complete the game on hard difficulty if you collect clocks and rush through easier stages. On normal, however, the timer resets after each stage, forcing you to always execute flawless runs. The time limit is harsh and terrible. If you take an extra swim in the water or wait in front of the crushing claw by even one second, you will fail the stage. The game’s not satisfying enough to play it more than once. Certain stages are either overly difficult or feature a layout that enables cheating; for example, if there is no border at the top of the screen, you can easily hop over obstacles.

Ball laB II, developed and published by Viktor Yurchuk, is a minimalist precision platformer that takes the philosophy of trial, error, and perseverance to heart. At its simplest, the game tasks you with guiding a small ball across fifty single-screen levels filled with spikes, pits, and other deadly traps until you reach the exit. It builds on the foundation of its predecessor, doubling down on simplicity in both its visuals and mechanics while sharpening the difficulty curve to create a game that thrives on repetition and mastery. The premise is deliberately straightforward, but the execution demands focus, patience, and quick reflexes from the player. The controls are basic but tightly tuned. You can roll, jump, and double-jump, and every movement feels deliberate. The challenge lies not in learning how to play but in applying those skills with precision under increasingly hostile conditions. Each level is designed to test timing and coordination, requiring players to carefully measure jumps or commit to rapid sequences of movements with almost no margin for error. The game keeps a death counter visible at all times, a constant reminder that progress comes through failure, and for many players, this becomes part of the appeal—every misstep is a lesson, every death a step closer to mastery. Visually, Ball laB II embodies stark minimalism. Levels are made up of clean lines and geometric structures, presented with a subdued color palette that avoids distraction. There is no background lore or ornate scenery to dress the experience; instead, the game strips everything down to essentials so that the player’s focus remains on the mechanics. While some might find the simplicity visually repetitive, it suits the game’s design ethos by ensuring that obstacles are always clear and readable. Combined with subtle music and sound effects, the atmosphere is calm and focused, allowing the intensity of the gameplay itself to take center stage. The fifty levels steadily increase in difficulty, layering new obstacles and trickier layouts as you progress. The inclusion of three difficulty modes provides some flexibility, making the game more approachable to those who want to ease into its demands, while also appealing to players who thrive on brutal challenge. At harder settings, levels become less forgiving, pushing reflexes and precision to the limit. This range adds replayability, especially for those determined to reduce their death count or perfect their runs, though for more casual players the difficulty spikes may feel daunting. Despite its strengths, Ball laB II has some clear limitations. The steep difficulty curve means that frustration is inevitable, and some players may find the pixel-perfect requirements of certain levels more punishing than rewarding. The minimalist style, while effective, also means that variety is somewhat lacking. Levels feel visually similar, and once the fifty challenges are complete, there is little new content to sustain long-term engagement beyond attempting harder modes or personal improvement. This focus on pure mechanics makes the game a niche experience—rewarding for those who enjoy precision platforming, but potentially repetitive for those looking for more variety or narrative depth. Reception has been positive overall, particularly among fans of tough but fair platformers. Many players appreciate the tight controls and straightforward presentation, praising the game for delivering exactly what it promises: a series of challenging levels where success depends entirely on player skill. Others, however, find the frustration factor too high or the content too short-lived. With its clean design and sharp learning curve, Ball laB II sits comfortably in the tradition of minimalist precision platformers, offering a compact but demanding experience. Ultimately, Ball laB II is a game built for a specific audience—those who embrace failure as part of the journey and who enjoy pushing their skills against increasingly punishing obstacles. It is not designed to tell a story or offer spectacle, but rather to provide a distilled test of reflexes, timing, and persistence. For players who thrive on the satisfaction of overcoming tough platforming challenges, it delivers a rewarding if occasionally unforgiving experience. For others, its minimalism and difficulty may limit its appeal, but within its niche, it succeeds as a focused and well-executed entry in the genre. Rating: 7/10
absolutely recomended if you like that type of platform games.
Pozdrawiam.
Balls roll like cats in the sun, each level explodes with laughter, obstacles dance like drunken gnomes, pure joy in technicolor.
