Been waiting a couple decades for a new Backyard Baseball game and can tell you that it mixes nostalgia & modern gameplay seamlessly. About to capture my first Ultra-Grand Championship of the Universe in years!
Just like back in the day. Super fun!
Great game, lots of depth. Play the tutorial, people saying it's too hard are missing some info. Online multiplayer should be great once it is added. Also the game runs perfectly on my old i7 2600 with 8gb ram and a 1060, well below the stated minimum system requirements.
This game was a big disappointment. I grew up on Backyard Baseball '01 and was super excited about a reboot. Oh foolish, naïve me. The state is has released in is atrocious, more bug filled than a roach-infested apartment. This apartment is missing all it's furniture, simply a beanbag chair and a TV to make you ask "you live like this?" Not only that, this apartment is not up to code, with asbestos leaking out of the walls. In plain English, the game has many game-breaking bugs that makes me wonder how it was released in this state. This game is missing features and content that was baked into a game 25 years older. This game has AI slop images on its playing cards and AI slop writing in the game - yet the developers have not disclosed this to steam. Scummy. Given the stability of the release I'd wager it was likely AI slop vibe-coded as well. Honestly, what a bummer. I'm glad I got my refund and wasn't blinded by nostalgia.
A great update to a classic game! Overall I am loving the game after a few short hours of playing. The depth of the game has only improved with achievements, unlockable content, and collecting within the game with ZERO microtransactions. Play the game. Unlock the stuff. Play the game more. Couldn't ask for better. New Modes are interesting and create a unique spin on the classic game keeping things fresh. Minor hiccups with some game controls here and there but nothing game breaking-ly bad.
fun
the new Backyard Baseball game has been, in my opinion, fantastic! Great voice acting for the kids, unlockables' that keep you playing and a great experience overall. I also love all the references to the OG '97 game, as it gives a spark of nostalgia. Pitching and batting are a smooth experience, however, I will say that fielding could do a rework. Sometimes, the backyard kids glitch which can make for some funny (and equally as annoying) moments! Overall, a great release and I'm excited to see what's in store for backyard sports!
aaaarroonn jjuuddggee fun
I like the game a lot it brings back the nostalgia of the 2001 game, only thing I dont really like / could better is the fielding and that like the originial it would auto make your player go the ball, etc. Other Then that it is a good game.
just as fun as the OG
