Sever drag in this game from the very beginning. At lest 5 seconds for every move.
Clearly meant to be played on a tablet or phone as the whole moving the scene is ridiculously slow to the point that I just won't bother playing.
Pros +60FPS +High-res visuals Cons +Short +Choices don’t matter in a game based around small changes matter +Bad mini-games +Some hidden object translation errors UK versus US. This is kind of a mixed bag. There are some good and bad things about Backstreets. At its core, it’s a hidden object game. You’re able to move each scene around a little, which is nice and brings a different feel to the scene. There’s also a good parallax scrolling effect when doing so. The visuals are high-res and objects are easy to spot. The scenes are not challenging. However, one unique “hidden object” is correcting misspelled words. I think that’s the first time I’ve come across something like that. The whole idea behind Backstreets is that a simple choice or change can have a butterfly effect on the rest of your life. The game presents itself in three acts. Where you’re a child / college student / adult. So, you’re transported back in time and each scene is where something went wrong in your life. Except now you have the ability to correct it. After you finish a scene, you’re given a few choices on which objects may have prevented something from happening. This repeats 2 times and ironically enough your choices don’t matter. And worse, they don’t make any sense. Example: I was able to stop a lawnmower by dumping all the gas on it. What?! The mini-games are not great either. The 2 based on video games are terrible to control. I enjoyed the diner and the stock market games, but only after reading a guide on how the stock market game works. Conclusion I feel like the basic concept was there for a more interesting game, but unfortunately Backstreets fell short. Deciding whether or not I’d recommend this is tough. Generally, no I wouldn’t, unless you are a collector or big fan of the genre. 4/10 Below Average
If I wanted to play arcade games, I would buy them! When I play HO games, I want HO scenes, puzzles, and thinking mini-games, not arcade games, especially ones with achievements attached (at least the achievement is for a total score of 10,000, not 10,000 in one play). The space invaders type game controls sucks - the ship movement speed is turtle-slow with no apparent option to change it. The HO scenes are good except for the slow movement speed. The HO part of the game is relaxing and of good graphical quality.
