The VN isn't very good. I bought this looking for some by-the-numbers defeat the Demon King slop, and it can't even do that right.

Not only is the VN unfinished, you can complete the entire thing in about 30 minutes. And that's if you read slow.
Huge spelling errors, huge grammar errors, poor word choice that no native English speaker would make. This feels machine translated from something else. If it's not, then the dev has a very poor grasp of the English language.
The dev must have pulled all the art assets from a free BG/sprite pack and randomly threw it all together. The main character's mother looks her son's age. The school roof looks like the top floor of an island resort.
The plot feels AI generated. So Truck-kun runs over the protag as he pushes the teacher he's dating out of the way. Then he inexplicably recruits two characters who have like 3 lines each in the entire VN. And then all of that is ignored for some big mercenary meeting about a raid they will be doing somewhere. And then the VN ends.
This feels more demo than game.
Back to Modern World – Fantasy Hero is an indie visual novel developed and published by S Xavier Uy that combines fantasy adventure, romance, comedy, and supernatural themes into a lighthearted story-driven experience. Drawing inspiration from classic isekai narratives, the game follows Yoha Taka, an ordinary young man whose life ends abruptly in an accident. Instead of moving on to the afterlife, he is presented with an extraordinary opportunity by a divine being: a chance to live again in a fantasy realm. However, his return comes with a significant challenge. To earn the right to go back to his original world and reunite with someone precious to him, he must first defeat the powerful Demon Lord that threatens the land. The game's narrative places a strong emphasis on character interactions and storytelling rather than gameplay mechanics. As a visual novel, the experience revolves around reading dialogue, learning about the world, and following the protagonist's journey through a series of unfolding events. The fantasy setting serves as the foundation for both the adventure and the personal relationships that develop throughout the story. Players who enjoy narrative-focused games will likely appreciate the attention given to conversations, character development, and the gradual progression of the plot. One of the more interesting aspects of the story is the protagonist's personality. Yoha is portrayed as a chuunibyou, a character archetype known for dramatic fantasies and an exaggerated sense of heroism. This trait creates an entertaining contrast when he is suddenly transported into a world where fantasy creatures, magic, and legendary quests are actually real. The result is a protagonist who often brings humor and energy to situations that might otherwise be treated seriously. His reactions to the fantasy world help establish the game's comedic tone while also making him a memorable central character. Romance is another major component of the experience. While the objective of defeating the Demon Lord gives the story its larger purpose, much of the appeal comes from the relationships formed along the way. The game blends romantic moments with comedic scenes and fantasy adventure, creating a tone that remains generally light and accessible. Rather than focusing heavily on action or conflict, it prioritizes emotional connections and personal interactions, making it particularly appealing to fans of anime-inspired visual novels. The episodic structure suggested by the game's description gives the story room to expand over time. Instead of presenting a self-contained adventure with a definitive conclusion, it appears designed to continue developing through additional chapters and story content. This approach allows the world and its cast of characters to grow gradually, encouraging players to follow the ongoing narrative and see how Yoha's quest evolves. It also gives the developer flexibility to introduce new situations, relationships, and challenges in future updates. Visually and conceptually, Back to Modern World – Fantasy Hero embraces many familiar fantasy and isekai conventions. There is a chosen quest, a powerful villain, a magical world, and a protagonist attempting to overcome impossible odds. However, the game does not try to reinvent the genre. Instead, it focuses on delivering an enjoyable and straightforward adventure built around charm, humor, and character-driven storytelling. Fans of light novels, anime romances, and fantasy visual novels will likely recognize many of the influences that shape the experience. While players seeking deep gameplay systems, strategic combat, or extensive player choice may find the experience somewhat limited, those looking for a relaxed story with likable characters and a fun fantasy premise should find plenty to enjoy. The combination of comedy, romance, and supernatural adventure creates a welcoming atmosphere that remains easy to follow and entertaining throughout its narrative progression. Overall, Back to Modern World – Fantasy Hero succeeds as a modest but engaging visual novel that understands its audience. Its strengths come from its approachable storytelling, humorous protagonist, romantic elements, and classic fantasy setup. Although it relies heavily on familiar genre tropes, it uses them effectively to create a pleasant and enjoyable narrative experience. For fans of story-focused games and anime-inspired adventures, it offers a worthwhile journey that balances humor, emotion, and fantasy in an appealing package. Rating: 6/10
