About
What if instead of sending your little pets out to battle one another, they raced instead?
Auto Pet Racers is a 2.5D auto racer where you obtain pet trainers to pour the stats and abilities that they offer into your trainee pet runner to win races.
Every great racer needs a great team.
Build your lineup of trainers and shape your pet’s stats, abilities, and racing style over the course of a season. Plan your weekly schedule, choose who to train with, and enter races to prove your pet’s worth.
Experiment with different stats, abilities, and outsmart rival racers on the path to win all your races.

There is a tonne of potential here which is why I'll give it a reccomendation however be warned you are purchasing a game in the earliest form of early access, you have a roster of characters with their own abilities/stats and their style of racing along with the basic gameplay loop of buy pets and then race. That's it. Different race tracks? Nope just 1 so far. Change abilities? You are stuck with the set abilities of the pet which you also have to manually activate for some reason despite the fact you can have them all and then cannot remove them, I see no reason why they are activatable unless the intention is to allow you to have more to choose from in the future but for now there is no reason to not just take all of them (which gives you a massive advantage early on because the AI seem to just not take any at the first race?) But the game is heavily lacking everywhere, 1 setting in the options menu which it won't even let you open on the main menu which is just for background music, cards look placeholder, no mix up in any dialogue before a race, the timeline viewer is just a mess and the worst is lack of any kind of progression. Now maybe the game doesn't really need a deep progression system BUT in a game about racing it absolutely needs stat tracking! Why am I aiming to win anything if I'm completely reset and sent back to the main menu? Where's the incentive to continue? You are given a final position at the end of a season based off your results but where is this anywhere else? What is literally the point in winning? You should be able to see where you currently stand against the other pets throughout the season aswell! I would love to be able to see how many times i've won races/championships as X pet or how many abilities i've activated or overtakes etc etc. Number go up is the easiest way to get anyone interested. A simple form of progression could be unlocking pets by winning as other pets, giving you a reason to try different playstyles. If this was async multiplayer it would be awesome (Super Auto Pets without Async multiplayer is a far less interesting game) but for a singleplayer game it needs a lot more of a hook to keep me interested and considering the EA page says the game only has a few more months of development I don't expect to see much more added but I wish the dev the best of luck.

This and every other Pro feature is free until October 20, 2026. A free account is all it takes.
There's a reason that the developer is keeping their communication to Discord despite Early Access. While there are a lot of things that sorely need patching, there's been no patches a month into this "approximately a few months" Early Access period. Instead, you can read on their Discord server about features they'd like to add but with no real timeline/roadmap. Typos aplenty despite the lack of text. No options except a singular BGM-only slider (which doesn't help with the loud SFX, particularly the start of race horn), little in the way of game customization (pick an animal as your racer which doubles as the "Adjustable Difficulty", as there are no difficulty settings otherwise), placeholders for features that aren't implemented, and little to see that you can't infer from just the Steam screenshots. Abilities consist of "click on Abilities button, equip them all, including checking back every turn because there's no UI to tell you when you've picked up a new Ability", so there's no depth there. In theory you could try to aim for specific abilities, but you'll be too busy managing with buying dupes (+100% base effect per +2 dupes merged) or covering for resting trainers to bother. This means choosing between better stats or a more diverse skill pool, but the former is stronger and you're allowed to equip duplicate abilities anyway. There's no meaningful depth here, which is likely why other reviews have limited playtime. Much as I'd like a Powerpros/UmaMusume style sim game that's in English without predatory monetization, this is nowhere close, even for $5 USD.
The game only has the basic but its still great! Ofc it needs more friends and more quality of life stuff, but at the current state you can already play and have a lot of fun!
A genuinely fun yet simple take on a Racer Trainer game. It is quite barebones and there's a lot still to be developed, yet once it's fully fleshed out I can see this becoming a great option for people if they ever get tired of hearing UmaPyoi legend. Excited to see more!
This game isn't complete yet, and that's a caveat to everything I'm saying. But there's a lot of potential here and it's a fun time. Yes, there are bugs. Yes, there are some things that need polish. However, beneath that is the core of something that has legs to run (no pun intended). I think the game could benefit from a few things. One major one being the way trainers lose stamina. That part can feel frustrating. Another being the diversity of trainers and abilities. That said, I think that more content is added, the frustrating parts of the gameplay loop are sanded down, and it gets a nice polish, this game could be a lot of fun. I really hope that the developer takes the time to keep working on it, expand the roster, take user feedback, work out the kinks, and keep the game growing!
This one is really bad. I started with the tutorial and was to the last race but I was getting annoyed by the UI being all screwed up on a wide monitor. There is no save option so I figured it auto-saved like other games. I went back to the menu to look for the video settings, but there are no video settings. Actually, the "settings" button on the menu doesn't do anything at all. It's just a picture of a button lol. Okay, so I go back to play, and it doesn't restart where you left off, and instead it just starts a new game. That's super annoying, but oh well, so I started a new game with the cow racer. After winning that game, I had still only spent about 40 minutes in the game. Maybe someday this could be fun, but right now it's not even CLOSE to being ready for early access. This is bad.
Too many bugs to play.
An awesome concept with HUGE potential, I can't wait for more updates and more animal racers! 😊
