Decent
this is for epic gamers
"Astral Slider" is a very poorly made "time attack laser racer". WTF is that, you probably aren't interested in asking? It's a crappy endless runner. It's got VR support... for only a couple of devices. And looking at such lazy graphics in VR is probably bad for your eyes. What do you do in the game? It's an endless runner from rear view perspective... think of this as a very shallow ripoff of the Temple Runner mobile app only with worse graphics than a mobile app, and published on PC. The "game" here is of a pretty low technical standard. The implementation is basic minimum effort stuff, more like a weekend project rather than a serious, professionally made product... and it's bad even compared to most amateur made games. An experimental piece... and the experiment is "Can I spend $100 on Steam Direct and then call myself a game dev?" While that $100 spend on Steam Direct probably made the developers feel good about themselves, we have to ask why this kind of thing is good for gamers. It isn't. This game features very lacklustre minimalist "art" for graphics instead of anything remotely contemporary. I'm sure the "developer" thought this would come across as "artistic", but it doesn't, it comes across as "really lazy". Yes, contemporary 3D graphics take a lot of time and effort to create. That doesn't mean it's okay not to bother! Developers must try to understand that gaming is a visual medium, and gamers spend a lot of money on high end gaming rigs for a reason. And that reason is not so they can look at lazy, phoned-in half efforts like this. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, the "free" price tag didn't help. This peaked at a handful of players and then immediately cratered. With a peak count of less than 50 gamers (out of over 130 million gamers and over 40 million daily logons), it’s safe to say the PC gaming community has collectively decided to ignore this, probably because of the reasons supplied in this review. Given that this free game won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. There's no financial cost up-front, but you'd still be spending your time and a little hard drive space on a product that's far from the best. There's thousands of better alternatives on Steam.
It plays like a fresh mobile game, in a good way. Very smooth and fun to try and get 3 stars on all levels. Initially it feels like it's nothing special but I gave it time and it became challenging and engaging the moment you get to know what it's all about. Recommended!
