Assassin's Creed™: Director's Cut Edition

Good Game Shame I cannot run it directly on Steam without it crashing. It can be run by Manually opening Assassins Creed_Dx10.exe for Windows 10. Otherwise, it won't really reflect on the review hours.

Given the game is so old, it has bugs. One of the most common issues is crashing immediately upon launch & freezing during gameplay. This and most other bugs can be easily fixed by launching the game from the dedicated DX10 or DX9 executables using steam launch options (copy paste: "AssassinsCreed_Dx10" %command%) but this fix is not guaranteed to work for everyone. As for the gameplay itself, it was fun but it does get repetitive because many of the missions are the same. Never played a game with parkour like this personally so I thought it was cool but eventually you become aware of how clunky it is. Sometimes it can feel smooth but most of the time it feels super clunky and inconsistent and thus frustrating. The combat shines when you have space to move but usually you have very little space, are surrounded and getting backed into a corner where you can barely move. Your camera also gets blocked a lot during combat. So for these reasons, the combat on average is quite bad. Overall, you need to have extreme patience in this game. There are clearly much better AC games (black flag & ezio trilogy) so only get this one if: You really want to play the original in the franchise You don't mind extremely clunky game mechanics & physics You are prepared for bugs and to do troubleshooting

Games stutters a lot, but here's the fix (from PCGamingWiki): Game regularly freezes for a few seconds. The game is trying to connect to Ubisoft servers which cannot be reached anymore. This server was used to track statistics about the game usage, so blocking connection to it shouldn't cause any problems in the game. Modify the executable to remove server address Open either AssassinsCreed_Dx9.exe or AssassinsCreed_Dx10.exe in a hex editor (e.g. HxD). Search for 67 63 6F 6E 6E 65 63 74 2E 75 62 69 2E 63 6F 6D (hex values) or gconnect.ubi.com (text string). Replace the hex value with 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 or click Edit > Fill selection... > Hex-values: 00 > OK. Save the file. Notes This method has the advantage of not needing to be updated if Ubisoft changes the IP address that "gconnect.ubi.com" resolves to and allows other games that use services provided by it to continue to work properly.

its a solid game yeah its repetitive af but i overall had fun. the story isnt much to write home but its a solid foundation and starting point for the franchise as a whole. Most of the characters and enemies outside Malik, Altair and Al Mualim were pretty forgettable and didnt really stand out that much in my opinion but were serviceable in the roles they played in the game. Onto my fav parts of ac1, the three cities and how different they all felt and the filters they had over them which gave them their own sense of life for example Damascus was really saturated blooming with colour whereas a city like Acres colours were mostly a cold and depressing shade of blue and grey. Gameplay wise there isnt too much to talk about but it still holds up decently well. The fighting was fun if a bit easy at times but the parkour surprised me with how well it holds up even now for a game thats 18 years with back ejects and side ejects, ledge grabs the parkour has its own depth and ways to master. In conclusion id say to pick up ac1, it holds up great even now and you will absolutely will get your moneys worth for how dirt cheap this game goes for, its a great starting point for the franchise and a OG ubisoft classic would recommend.

Près de vingt ans plus tard, [i]Assassin's Creed[/i] reste une très bonne expérience pour quiconque souhaite découvrir la série. Le jeu a assez bien vieilli (pour l'époque, c'était déjà impressionnant) et tient en haleine pour une bonne quinzaine d'heures, voire plus si vous souhaitez le compléter à 100 %. Il faut néanmoins noter que l'adaptation PC a quelques lacunes, comme une prise en charge assez partielle de la manette (Xbox One pour ma part), des freezes intempestifs fort heureusement évitables ou encore quelques crashs. Rien d'autre à ajouter de bien particulier, si ce n'est qu'Ubisoft aurait dû depuis longtemps ajouter des succès au jeu, ce qui aurait rendu les collectibles (drapeaux comme templiers) un minimum utiles. Soldé ou non, je recommande, dix euros ce n'est pas bien cher pour un jeu du genre.

Desde el último Assassins Creed Shadows, me doy cuenta de lo especial que era esta saga antiguamente. Te enseñaba historia desde una persona a la que nadie ve pero está en todos lados. Puede ser que no fuera el juego más realista, pero lo era a su manera. Comparado con los actuales, al menos no ibas con una armadura supuestamente "hackeada" y que parece sacada de otra época. Ha perdido la esencia, ahora el credo solo se menciona cuando te preguntan quién eres, antes todo lo que hacías era por el credo. Volver a los tiempos dorados de la saga siempre vienen bien. Es un juego que cuando sabes dominarlo, es satisfactorio. Creo que no hay nada mas por decir. Si quieres saber lo que es Assassins Creed, juega esta obra maestra.

I can't stress enough that you should not buy this game. It will be buggy, glitchy, and require many third party patches to get up and running in 2026. I don't care if it's 90% on sale. This is a dead game, and these companies should do better. If they know it doesn't work, don't list it for sale. Easy as that.
