I can't say much about this game that hasn't already been said. It was the first game in the Ezio Trilogy and definitely the best game for a long time in the franchise.
I have been a long time fan of Jesper Kyd, especially after I've heard his Genesis sounds which are much better than the soundtrack here. I'm not putting down Kyd with saying that, but I'm trying to tell you that he's a genuine masterpiece composer. If you think AC2 is the best he's got, he will WOW you with everything else he has made, too.
I do want to say that parts of this game has not aged well since it came out. There is a cliffhanger ending that you have to play Brotherhood immediately after to solve, which I heard also ends in a cliffhanger ending. Lol.
Those damn tombs. They're optional but if you can do them, they give you the best armor in the entire game. Which is absolutely annoying because all of those tombs are absolutely unfair with the timing. It leads to a frustrating gaming session if you're going after the tombs. AC2 is supposed to be peak gaming, not a frustrating experience.
This game also suffers from something that games of the time did where if you screw up a mission, you got to start from the way beginning of the mission again. This game came out on the PS3 and during the era of the PS3, almost every single game had that.
The story in this game except for the cliffhanger that I didn't like, is a very very good story. You do get to meet some famous people from Italy and there's a few jokes in the game that are absolutely hilarious. This game is best played with friends watching you because if they pick up on the jokes then you'll both always remember that forever.
Assassin's Creed 2 is supposed to be a stealth game, but this game is one of those that allows you to go loud if and when you want to. My favorite type of stealth game will allow you to go loud when you mess something up.
There's an armor and weapon progression system that makes the game absolutely more interesting the further you play. Instead of levels you have armor upgrades and that's absolutely what Assassin's Creed needs to return to.
I get it, I'm the JRPG Wolf. I love playing with level systems and experience points. However, Assassin's Creed as a series was always meant to be played like AC2. It takes you buying this game and playing it to understand why.
