Argonauts Agency: Gorgon Medusa
A casual game from 2025. Jason and Medea are back in action: the famous relic collector, Pelias, has asked them to retrieve the artifact that protects against Medusa's gaze. Without hesitation, the Argonauts set off on their journey to retrieve the artifact, save the cursed humans, and find new friends. (Developer) I stopped after two and a half hours of playtime; that's level 15. Unlike 8floor's other collectible game series, this series is purely for casual play. The individual levels are time-wasters that become less and less fun as you progress. This is especially true when you have to start trading materials. You can only trade small amounts, but you need more and more with each level. Since the gameplay is always the same, regardless of the game in the series, I didn't even bother checking what level 16 looked like. Because it doesn't really matter. The individual maps are very basic in their design. They're clearly designed to waste time. You have to run through entire chains of trading stations over and over again to exchange small amounts of materials. My time is too valuable for that. The few materials you need are unimaginative and get boring after a while, since you're always doing the same thing with them. Not recommended for players who like collection games.
Argonauts Agency: Gorgon Medusa
Note: An awesome friend gifted me a copy of this game. ^^
Jason and Medea are off on another mission. XD

Introduction
Argonauts Agency: Gorgon Medusa is a time management game developed and published by 8floor ltd. It is the 7th game in Argonauts Agency series. As usual, our heroes Jason and Medea are hard at work at the agency when Pelias, Medea's uncle, arrives and asks for their help. His artifact, a pair of sunglasses (yes, I know lol), has been stolen and without it, he cannot protect himself from being turned to stone by Medusa, the Gorgon who turns people into stone statues with her gaze. Thus, it's up to Jason and Medea to retrieve the sunglasses and stop Medusa, but there may very well be more than meets the eye... With the gameplay, you can choose from among the usual three difficulty levels (relaxed, normal, or hard) that has become the standard for time management games. There are a total of 50 levels, with an additional 10 bonus levels unlocked after you complete the main campaign. In each level, you're given the usual tasks, which can range from breaking boulders to defeating ghosts. Resources can be made from constructing production buildings, and they can range from wood to gold. Temporary upgrades are made available as you progress through levels that can include anywhere from workers running faster to having an additional worker. Also, more permanent upgrades, such as construction speed, are available although you have to obtain them from the gem slot machine. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3631559424 Finally, no Steam achievements are available, but there are plenty of in-game trophies, and the game counts towards a user's global total. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3631559218
Review
Feeling in the mood to play a TM, I was thinking about what series to catch up on (there are quite a few :o), and seeing that it's been a while since I last played an Argonauts Agency one, I decided to pick it up. XD The story has the usual adventurous tone, with Jason and Medea off on another epic quest. The two of them make a good team although we don't really get to know much about them. In regards to the story, there are no shocking twists although when a certain event happens, well, let's just say that accidents can happen and sometimes, the person who caused them can't find a way to fix it by themselves. Anyway, the story is very light-hearted and there are never any dark twists or whatnot. Of course, it's the gameplay that's the main focus. (For review purposes, I played on normal mode.) It's fun as always, but there aren't any new surprises, at least when it comes to gameplay mechanics. It feels pretty much the same as the other games in the series, but I don't necessarily consider this to be a negative if the current mechanics work. A minor issue that I have is in regards to obtaining permanent upgrades. I know that the gem slot machine feature has been present in other games, but if you're looking to max out all the permanent upgrades, that can take a while, especially since it depends on RNG. As for the lack of Steam achievements, I am aware that this might dissuade some who are solely looking for them, but I think the game is more than enjoyable (and a bit challenging at times) without them. Also, there are plenty of in-game trophies, so I had fun getting all of them, and they can take a while but thankfully, never to the point of having to grind for them. As for the art, it has the usual style that is in the other games in the series. The cartoony, colorful style works, and I like the designs of the sprites and backgrounds. Also, the world map is wonderfully done. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3631559091 Regarding the music, the tracks are the same as in the previous games. I think it would have been nice if there had been one or two new tracks to add bit of variety to the music, but the current tracks work for the game. They give off that vibe that you're following Jason and Medea in ancient Greece as they take on monsters and ghosts, all while saving the world. XD
Conclusion
Would I recommend Argonauts Agency: Gorgon Medusa? If you're a time management fan, you're especially a fan of the Argonauts Agency series, and/or you don't mind the lack of Steam achievements, then I think it's worth trying out. Although it can feel more of the same if you've played the previous games in the series, I never get tired of these games. For the asking price, it might feel a bit on the short side, as it took me a little over 9 hours to 100% complete. Of course, you can wait for a sale, and it's in a couple of Steam bundles. Gute Unterhaltung. Fazit: kaufen, kaufen, kaufen :-)
Argonauts Agency: Gorgon Medusa is a mythology-themed time management strategy game developed and published by 8floor ltd that takes players on a colorful adventure through the world of ancient Greece. Continuing the studio's established formula of combining resource management, exploration, and light storytelling, the game delivers a casual but engaging experience centered on legendary heroes, cursed victims, and one of Greek mythology's most infamous monsters. While it remains faithful to the traditional mechanics of the time management genre, its mythological setting and steadily evolving gameplay help create a journey that is both entertaining and accessible. The story begins when the renowned adventurers Jason and Medea are called upon to investigate a growing threat connected to Medusa's petrifying power. What initially appears to be a simple mission soon develops into a larger quest involving ancient relics, magical curses, and the fate of countless people across Greece. Guided by clues and aided by legendary figures, the heroes travel across a variety of locations in search of a solution before the curse spreads further. The narrative is presented in a lighthearted manner that keeps the tone adventurous and welcoming, making it easy for players to enjoy regardless of their familiarity with Greek mythology. One of the game's most appealing features is its use of mythological themes. Rather than treating the legends as distant background material, the game actively incorporates famous characters, magical artifacts, and supernatural challenges into its objectives. Familiar names from Greek folklore appear throughout the journey, giving the adventure a sense of authenticity while still maintaining a playful atmosphere. The mythology serves as more than decoration; it becomes the foundation for many of the game's challenges and story developments. The core gameplay revolves around managing workers, gathering resources, clearing obstacles, and completing objectives within time limits. Players must constantly decide which tasks deserve immediate attention and how best to allocate their available workforce. Every level functions like a strategic puzzle where efficiency is often the key to success. Completing objectives quickly requires careful planning, smart prioritization, and an understanding of how different resources interact. This creates a satisfying balance between accessibility and strategic depth. One area where the game excels is pacing. Unlike some time management titles that spend too much time introducing mechanics, Argonauts Agency: Gorgon Medusa quickly gives players access to multiple workers and a variety of objectives. This allows levels to feel active from the beginning and encourages strategic thinking almost immediately. The ability to manage several tasks simultaneously creates a more engaging flow and rewards players who can effectively multitask under pressure. The campaign offers a substantial amount of content through fifty levels that take players across a range of visually distinct environments. Ancient settlements, mysterious forests, hidden temples, and mythological locations all contribute to a strong sense of progression. Each new area introduces fresh challenges and visual themes, helping maintain player interest throughout the adventure. The variety of environments ensures that the campaign never feels trapped within a single repetitive setting. Level design is another notable strength. The developers gradually introduce new mechanics and obstacles, ensuring that the gameplay continues to evolve as players advance. Early levels focus on teaching the fundamentals, while later stages demand increasingly sophisticated planning and faster decision-making. New objectives, hazards, and resource requirements appear regularly, preventing the gameplay from becoming predictable. This steady introduction of new ideas helps sustain engagement across the entire campaign. Visually, the game embraces a bright and inviting art style that complements its mythological setting. The environments are colorful, detailed, and filled with small touches that bring ancient Greece to life. Temples, statues, forests, and settlements all contribute to a world that feels lively and adventurous. Character portraits and environmental designs successfully capture the playful tone of the story without sacrificing clarity during gameplay. The visual presentation is polished and appealing, particularly for fans of casual strategy games. The soundtrack provides a fitting accompaniment to the adventure. Light orchestral melodies and atmospheric background tracks reinforce the mythological theme while maintaining a relaxed mood. The music supports the gameplay effectively, adding energy during busy moments without becoming distracting. Combined with the visual presentation, the audio helps create a comfortable and enjoyable experience that encourages extended play sessions. Accessibility is another area where the game performs well. Controls are intuitive, objectives are clearly communicated, and the learning curve remains manageable throughout the campaign. Players unfamiliar with time management games can quickly understand the mechanics, while experienced genre fans will still find opportunities to optimize their performance and pursue perfect level completions. This broad accessibility makes the game suitable for a wide audience. The main limitation is that the game largely adheres to established genre conventions. Players who regularly play time management titles will recognize many familiar mechanics and structures. While the mythological setting adds charm and personality, the fundamental gameplay remains focused on resource collection, route planning, and time-based objectives. Those seeking revolutionary ideas may find the experience somewhat predictable. However, for fans of the genre, the familiar mechanics are executed with enough polish to remain enjoyable. What ultimately makes Argonauts Agency: Gorgon Medusa successful is its combination of engaging strategy, mythological storytelling, and polished presentation. It understands exactly what its audience expects and delivers a well-crafted adventure filled with memorable locations, satisfying challenges, and charming characters. The game does not attempt to reinvent the time management genre, but it refines the formula through strong level design and a compelling setting. Argonauts Agency: Gorgon Medusa is a rewarding casual strategy game that offers a pleasant blend of mythology and resource management. Its colorful world, entertaining story, varied objectives, and accessible mechanics make it a worthwhile experience for players who enjoy time management adventures. Whether drawn in by the legends of ancient Greece or by the appeal of strategic gameplay, players will find a polished and enjoyable journey that remains engaging from the opening mission to the final challenge.
