Very very interesting premise, but still quite unpolished and with a few game breaking issues. Unfortunately more frustrating than fun for me right now. I'm shelving this for the time being, but will definitely come back eventually to check on updates.
Great concept, but pretty buggy in its current form. As others have noted, some dropped items become impossible to loot. I've had games where it randomly assigns multiple players to my one controller, so I'm stuck dealing with unhelpful additional players across the map. Sometimes NPC dialogue will freeze in place, blocking important information in the combat windows. Once it's polished a bit more, this will be a no-brainer recommendation.

Movement through the map is painfully slow, combats are not very engaging, controls during combat are frustrating, time windows to block attacks and deal extra damage are unclear, and collecting items dropped by killed enemies is a pain in the ass because they fly off into various directions (remember that walking is super slow, takes long time to get to the items) and sometimes they're bugged and you can't even grab them. The premise of an RPG where the enemy gets stronger over time and you have to make yourself strong enough to defeat them in time is interesting, I wish we had more games that explored that idea, but the basic gameplay of Apocalich is so tedious I don't even wanna keep playing it regardless of how well it manages the balance of making yourself stronger in time. The path there just isn't fun! I don't recommend this game, but I do like the idea it presents, I'd love to see sokpop do a 2nd take on the concept, hopefully a more engaging one.
wonderful game
I so wish for this game to work, but I am stuck in the ocean right now as my character got teleported around without my choice.
After seeing quite a bit of negative reviews on this game I was reluctant to give it a try but I did and found it amazing. From what I have played so far I think its a great game for 1-4 people to play. The game usually lasts only an hour or so when I play with my friends but I think it has great replay value. However the local multiplayer at least for me doesn't seem to be so great in some ways, one being that when I try to connect my controller to my PC to play local multiplayer. However it does work if my friend who is using the exact same controller can play if he joins through Steam remote play instead. I tend to see though same problems in other Sokpop games I play but not games made by other developers. There is also a small exploit in the game: One of the places with boats has the option to by broccoli and sell it back for an increased price. Because of this you can basically get an infinite amount of money but buying and selling this broccoli over and over again. I hope this review helped if you are thinking of purchasing this game for yourself. Thank you.
Broken. If you can't win the final fight on the first run, your position is saved just before the final fight, and there isn't a way to reset the game. Even re-installing the game didn't help. Also the balance between magic user and fighter is broken. Magic users can't attack the dark magic monsters, which is the main object of the game. I like Sokpop normally, but this shouldn't have been released. Making small simple games is one thing, but releasing games that fundamentally don't work is bad.
Great concept but way unpolished. Played 2 player local co-op and there were lots of issues w the controls, getting stuck, and items not working. Hopefully in the future Sok can revisit the sprawling one-screen co-op adventure idea, but don't buy this one
I went into this game with low expectations, but I was shocked. It is a fun game, and a quick play. I am excited to run through it again with a few other friends. The only downside is the length and lack of content, but I got it for half off and can't expect much more for a three dollar game. I would love to see this concept fleshed out in a larger project, but until then I'll replay this again and again. I will say that navigating the map is slow, and that feels tedious at first, but I quickly got over that qualm personally.
- NO CURSOR - WHERE IS MENU TO QUIT THE GAME? - ESC BUTTON DONT WORK - NO TUTORIAL BEFORE GAME START - CONTROLS ARE SUPER WEIRD - WHAT TO DO?!?!?! MAKE CURSOR GREAT AGAIN!!!!!!!
