About
You wake up in the middle of a bizarre, unsettling forest with no recollection of your past. Armed with nothing but a flashlight and an old cassette player, you must navigate through the wilderness, seeking clues to regain your lost memory. As you explore, your heart rate slowly begins to rise, filling you with dread.
Your only hope comes in the form of six cassette tapes scattered throughout the forest. Each tape contains cryptic, anonymous messages that provide fleeting moments of clarity and calm your pounding heart. But with each tape you find, the forest grows more hostile, and the trees seem to close in on you as if they’re watching your every move.
Can you survive long enough to piece together your forgotten past, or will the forest consume you?

Games are so hard to make, so to make one and make it free is all good in my books. It short, it's simple, it's easy to get the hang of. The heartbeat system - no matter how overused - is effective in creating a creepy atmosphere and (in this game) alerting you to your potential doom. The dialogue is simple but not too cliche as to be boring. The evil trees were a fun enemy that were a combination of creepy and annoying, the small vision you have (that can be even further reduced) can easily leave them out of your line of sight, or hide them behind trees. Playing for a few minutes will give a mental map of their locations, and they are generally easy to avoid. The story (as is usual in quick games like this) is very minimal as to barely be there, but I wouldn't say that's a downside. All in all, it's a very quick game to beat, it simple and creepy, and I appreciate the effort this small team made to bring a free game to my desktop.

Mystical Tree
Free game so no room to complain. Simple premise, walk around a forest looking for 6 glowing-red recordings. The trees are spaced apart well enough not to get caught in any of them. There is one particular looking type of tree, you will know it when you see it, that will attack you once you start collecting the cassette recordings. These trees have a large range on their branches so try to imagine roughly 30 or so feet away to avoid getting hit. It only takes 2-3 hits from these trees to die. They are firmly planted in the ground and do not move from that spot and there are several of them around the map. There is a boundary to the playing area. I tried following it to get a sense of where things are at and can see the cassettes from a distance due to their red, sparkling, glow. Game can last probably 10 minutes at most before you eventually find the cassettes or get killed by the killer trees. Oh, and by the way, your heart rate goes up steadily the longer you are in the forest. Collecting the cassettes will slow it down. My strategy was to keep an eye out for the cassettes glowing up ahead while keeping a close eye out for the dangerous trees and keeping away from them. You will easily get a feel for how far you need to be but by then you will have probably died several times as I did and re started the map. When that happens you start completely over. There are no keyboard bindings to set nor any settings to change. You should check out the 'How to Play' first. Conclusion: It's free so give it a chance. You might like the challenge but there is very little to it.
First off, there are no settings. The mouse sensitivity was a bit high... The horror atmosphere was there, but very weak jumpscares and the monsters (trees) were not spooky at all, thus easily dodgeable. It's also super short (my friend could complete the game in 9 minutes). If you enjoy horror games, you can find better ones ^-^'
Anonymous Messages is a short thrilling game, with one easy goal. SURVIVING. Besides trying to survive, you have to collect 6 casette tapes to get back your lost memory. Short and simple - I like it and would definitely recommend it. Let's see who can beat it the fastest. (it took ME way TO LONG) watch my playthrough on YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMarJKt5HZY
