Great old school MMORPG. Yes the graphics show their age but look better than a lot of games from the same era because at the time the graphics were ahead of the competition. AO has deep, complex systems and a very original premise. It has so much content to enjoy as well. Interesting character classes as well that go beyond the usual choice. The game is very solo friendly thanks to a lot of QoL player things like buffbots, inplant bots, travel bots and mission rollers. Population is okay and seems to be euro-heavy. But depending on where you are you could not see many people. I would recommend that you bring a friend along and you will have tons of fun. There really is no other game like this one. I think only the original Star Wars Galaxies had this level of detail in its systems. I played this at launch and am back again having a great time. It's quirky, fiddly and sometimes a bit buggy but that is part of its charm. The only negatives are that the publisher seems to keep it on life support so don't expect new content or fast responses to petitions. Bottom line is it's free to try so why not try it? There will never be another MMORPG made as deep as this one.

Funcom's non-traditional fantasy MMORPGs like this one and Secret World Legends are just something else. Even after all this time, Anarchy Online is a captivating experience that somehow holds up despite its dated graphics and overall clunkiness. Perhaps like with the old Gothic, once you get into the rhythm of the game, you'll realize it's less clunky than it initially seems to be. The game and themes are basically transhumanism, space and technology. For example, if you like the Deus Ex series, you might like the vibe a lot.

The game is too old and too dead to recommend, Checking steam charts there was zero players online when i started and 4 people online by the time i realized this game was not meant to be played solo. gg.

Twenty-four years is a long time for any game, but for an MMORPG, it calls for a significant remake that incorporates modern gaming features, updated graphics, expanded lore, and new quests. I recognize and appreciate the incredible experiences this game provided in the early 2000s. While those experiences still hold value in Sci-Fi Sauce, I strongly believe that this game is a gem that deserves a second chance. Therefore, a remake is essential. However, given its current state, I cannot support it.

One of the all time great classic MMOs, it holds up surprisingly well and is very worth checking out in free to play mode. Immensely janky but runs very well on modest hardware (as you'd expect for a 25 year old game).

One of the best MMORPG of all time by far! Nothing comes close if u get deep enough and get catched by the game.
