It's a really good visual novel. I'd be willing to pay for part 2 or a digital artbook/soundtrack. The story rewards you for paying attention. The characters have both enough flaws to be interesting and enough depth to be likable when you get to know them more.
I saw a review that did not recommend this game because you don't do anything but left click to further the story. It is true but it's not a bad thing. It actually took me 2 hours of playing to realize I wasn't doing anything but that - that is how good and enjoyable the game was for me. The story is great and the characters are really well-made as well, I can sense a sort of depth and multifaceted personalities from them all. The art is also great, it conveys and deepens the kind of atmosphere that seem to be prominent in these peoples societies in the future - sort of melancholic but still with beauty.

Went into this knowing nothing and overall had a really good time! Takes a little while to get into it, in my opinion, especially if you're like me and found Adrian... a little frustrating to be in the perspective of at first - but overtime, learning more about him and the others made the experience very worthwhile. Valerie ended up being my absolute favourite though, I found myself adoring her by the half way mark and I didn't stop. My main issue is that things drag somewhat towards the end, particularly in one section that I've seen another review bring up. I wouldn't say any part of that section is strictly unnecessary, but it's just. So. Darn. Much. It's a lot to take in, especially this late into the game when quite a few of the pieces have already been put together by that point; and much of it is build up to one specific reveal. I think the 'mechanic' of this is really interesting as well and incredibly fun to poke into. But I will say that this is the most literal version of a Visual Novel, and if you play this you have to be aware of that. There are no dialogue choices, no point and click elements. The only mechanic is optional engagement with one small thing, that does not alter the outcome of the story aside from what seems to be pieces of dialogue + your interpretation of events. Overall, would recommend for any fan of death game media with time to kill. Excited for part 2!
Sucker for a good story
such a well written story 10/10 plot. i love the mc character development AND ALL THE CHARACTERS HERE HAS THEIR OWN PURPOSE TO THE STORY. can't also ignore that the cg's were amazing as well!! I truly love how the game brings out sci-fi and mystery together. I find myself truly enjoy reading this VN, though it was much shorter than I imagined. (and yes... the story is still in a cliffhanger) DESPITE THAT I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE OTHER TEAM POV I'M ACTUALLY SO INVESTED. I can't wait to see how the next part unfolds :w:
I just sat for +4 hours straight reading this vn.. I'm someone who can't sit still for more than 2 hours. I was so intrigued by the story, the characters, the art, the soundtrack etc. I just wanted to know more as the story progresed and I still do! Really can't wait for part 2.
I really look forward to the next part!!
nice
My game play lasted about 4.2 hours. Overall, great game. The plot was interesting in my opinion, and the dialogue was interesting. Plus, finding extra dialogue in the log was interesting to read as well. However, I do believe the ending is a bit anti-climatic, and I'm sad we didn't get to interact with Oliver a final time, the ending sort of felt unfinished in a way. love my girl valerie
Anamnesia - Part 1: Am I My Body? Atmosphere. That’s the first and best word that comes to mind when describing this game. This is one of those experiences that sticks with you, not because of complex gameplay mechanics or flashy visuals, but because of the unsettling, introspective mood it creates from the start. Gameplay This isn’t your typical “pick up a controller and relax” type of game. It’s more of an exploration and reflection experience. The controls are minimal and intuitive—navigating the environment feels straightforward. The gameplay leans heavily on observation and piecing together the world’s abstract ideas. It’s not about skill but about immersing yourself in the game’s strange, fragmented reality. Story and Themes Without giving anything away, Anamnesia dives deep into existential questions. It toys with concepts like identity, physicality, and consciousness. The narrative isn’t handed to you on a silver platter—you’re meant to connect the dots and form your interpretation. The game plays like a thought experiment brought to life, provoking you to question the boundaries between body and self. Visuals and Locale The visuals are surreal, almost dreamlike, with a minimalist approach that suits the game’s philosophical tone. It’s not about dazzling graphics but about how the environment feels. Every area is meticulously designed to evoke unease, curiosity, or introspection. You’ll find yourself pausing just to take in the quiet, eerie beauty of the world. Sound and Atmosphere The sound design is stellar—subtle, immersive, and perfectly fitting for the game’s mood. The ambient noises and music underscore the feeling of being caught between reality and something else entirely. Combined with the visuals, the audio creates an atmosphere that pulls you into its strange, reflective world. Final Thoughts Anamnesia - Part 1 is not a game for everyone. It’s slow, abstract, and entirely focused on mood and theme. But if you’re the type who loves to dive into experimental games that challenge how you think and feel, this is an excellent pick. The first part leaves you with more questions than answers, but it’s all the better for it. For those seeking something atmospheric, thought-provoking, and utterly unique, this is a game worth experiencing. Just don’t expect it to hold your hand or follow traditional gaming norms—it’s a journey you take on its own terms.
