A pretty bad game, just skip it. This is the very definition of a game that plays you. You receive cards and you are practically forced to use them. Very low to non variability of actions , no tutorial, no background music, boring backgrounds and images and voices generated by soulless AI. If Steam had some standards, this is the kind of game that should not be promoted in their front page.
This game clearly stands out as a comprehensive & engaging political simulator, offering people like myself who are deeply interested in world politics a bit of entertainment. I think my favorite part about this game is that I don't have to sit around for many hours and play through a long and tedious story mode, but rather can just pick my side and jump right in. The customization features are somewhat limited, but the candidate avatars are just enough to get the job done in terms of presentation - which I later discovered that they were used at the end of the game in a wonderful way. Based on the store page description and screenshots, I wasn't really sure if I was buying a political strategy game or a card game. Honestly, it's a bit of both. There seems to be two different types of cards, some are worth points for a category and the others are used to trigger in-game events? In my campaign, the cards that were commonly dealt to me were Advertisements and Debates. These came up quite often, and I found myself enjoying the struggle to keep my approval ratings high enough. I wasn't sure exactly how high they needed to be, but considering they started at fifty percent, I figured that if I could get them slightly higher than that by the end of the game, I'd probably be doing pretty well. The entire election seemed to take around thirty of forty minutes, just the perfect amount of time before things drag on too long. I was satisfied with the different screens. It was nice to see the progression of my campaign as new polls were released and it seemed some cards even allowed me to control when a poll releases. Finally, at the end of the game, I was not really expecting anything special, but this developer spared no expense. The end-game presentation was fantastic and similar in quality to what you'd see on an election night in real life. I was filled with joy as I hovered the swing states to check the results and intently watched the clock awaiting the next projection. I really thought I was going to win too, and it turns out I just didn't perform well enough. A tough loss, 270 for the other candidate, and 268 for myself. I've been apart of some losing battles, but this one stung. I'll be giving it another go soon, but I must let the emotions die down first. This thirty minute campaign cycle scarred me, but in a good way. So what do I say about the game? Should you spend fifteen dollars on American Election Simulator? It's a big yes from me.
American Election Simulator is a fantastic pick for anyone who loves strategy games. The game combines deep, thought-provoking planning with tough challenges. The different AI strategies make every play through engaging and rewarding. If you're into games that test your strategic thinking, this one is definitely worth a try!
I was pleasantly surprised by this title. I wasn't sure what I was expecting going in, but what I found was an entertaining and nice way to pass a few hours. First things first, I love the menu. Colors are bright and simple, giving the game a pleasing aesthetic. One thing that bothers my OCD a little bit is that I wished the smaller northeastern states had their state's abbreviations located directly on the map as opposed to the upper right side. Not a huge deal, but it definitely bugs me worse than someone never responding to their text messages or communicating in general. I don't know if the developer would consider making a sequel in 2028, but I think it would be fun to have a couple variations of this card game divided up in different game modes. I also think it would be neat to have "regional" type events that effect a group of states at once. I love that you can name your presidential candidate, but I wish you could also name your opponent. I'd think we could come up with some pretty funny names. Just a couple of ideas to take a very fun game and make it deeper and more complex. I would love the opportunity to discuss this with the developer and communicate some ideas for this title because I had a lot of fun. Especially since I caught it on a great sale for only $1.49! It was definitely well spent! Harder difficulties make it more fun and trying to focus on gaining some states while your opponent gains in others make it very interesting. Definitely recommend it for any one who is a fan of strategy games and likes random events and luck to also play a factor in it.
A great election game
Very good game, realism is very appreciated and this game is very fun to play Little suggestions for the devs out there : Make a local multiplayer mode, so that friends can face in a 1V1, I have a friend coming home soon but he doesn't have steam and wants to try the game, and sadly we can't make a 1V1 :( Make a sandbag gamemode where you can pretty much do whatever you want with infinite action points. (playable against AI and against local friends as well) Nerf AIs, I feel like even the easy AI has way too much action points, around 25 per turn, even though I have between 10 et 20 (without bonus cards) I feel like the game is very complex in that matter and doesn't really allow you any landslide victory, the best I got is 322 and it was pure luck because I flipped virginia somehow. Maybe you could add more difficulties, but something has to be done for the easy AI at least Hope one of these would see the light of day That's a great game, thank you for that
Good and easy tp use
Really fun game. I play it a lot. The issue is the odds are wack, you'll get the same card 6 times in a row and bad things are far more common then good things. Mid and High difficulty are almost unplayable. There are a great bones that could get even better. Needs more real people. More card options and better odds and maybe more updated voting tendencies
not nearly enough wacky stuff for it to be accurate to an election, also cards for a game about politics (in my opinion) is not very good
This game was so bad lol. Priced for its value.
