Reviews
Ever since this one landed in our IndieGems curator, and having had the privilege to play this one pre-release, I’ve been counting down, buzzing with excitement, to drop my review and thoughts about this cozy little gem with the cutest, lovely, and fluffiest friends ever. It’s alpaca time bébéy! While the main storyline took me about 10ish hours to complete, with a fair share of side quests left and the will to complete every logbook entry, I’m guaranteed many more hours to go. So don’t think it’s a short, quick sim; it’s beefy! Very beefy. And I’m all here for it. So, let’s dive right into the review: Alpaca Ranger puts you in the shoes of—well, as you can guess—a starting newbie ranger. Your mission? To build a thriving ranch! Tame and breed alpacas, grow crops and fish, explore and fulfil quests with a core loop that is super approachable. Spending your days feeding, brushing, and shearing your alpacas and keeping their wool top-notch felt a little like a priority initially, and I may have made the mistake of taking on too many alpacas at once. Still, I can’t judge the game for me making that mistake, if I can even call it a mistake, since it was worth it, and I was having fun. So eeeh. This way, I learned that if you neglect (accidentally by exploring too long!), the wool’s quality tanked—yikes! But it is nice to have a ‘system’ like this to balance it out; otherwise, it would be too easy and have become boring far too fast. It wasn’t all that long before I started to find some balance, and later in the game, I got help through some automation so I could focus even on exploring and quests. After all, this cool little world has several lovely areas to discover and many fun NPCS to meet. I also would like to take a moment to say how much I loved its vibrant, whimsical, storybook-like look and visuals. It feels like pure magic: the alpacas prancing around, or the sparkly stones on the beach when it's dark. There are so many details and little things to see and admire. It is all simple yet very effective, making it an enjoyable eye-pleaser. The lovely, relaxing, mellow music lasted way longer than some other games, since we all know I’m notorious for swapping any game music out for podcasts, etc. So, in short, the balance between simplicity and complexity, finding the balance, etc., nothing being excessively complicated but rather a warm blanket that hugs you, made me binge-play this game as much as I could. It made me happy, mellow, and relaxed. It made me go with the flow and forget everything else, like a warm cup of tea on a rainy day. Just cozy and chill. It’s a delightful game with heart, humour, charm, and, above all, the cutest fluffiest alpacas! And I’m already longing to see more from this incredible dev duo after they presented me with such a gem! And if you’re still in doubt, think about how awesome your in-game character will look and how cool you’ll feel while riding an alpaca, or in my case, an owlpaca! I mean, if that doesn’t sweeten the deal, then my last and final argument is that this game doesn’t force you to go to sleep. Yeah, you read that right. You can stay up for days on end if you wish. And I thought that was amazing for a change in this genre; frankly, I love it! Owlpacas VS some nice cozy fishing <3 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3474508704 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3474508313
I would be super grateful if you could consider giving a follow over at the following places for more first looks, reviews, recommendations, etc:

| My first looks | ~My YouTube channel. Be prepared to be hooked if you start this game, it is extremely cute and wholesome. I was hesitate to buy it at first without any reviews but I am pleased that I took the plunge and bought this game. This one is definitely not going to be refunded. At first I think I took on too many alpacas and some of them were neglected, but there is no detriment to your farm if you do forget to brush them or clean out their pens. Just get tainted wool, which doesn't really sell well. It is a must buy if you like everything that is cute and adorable. Be prepared for an overload of enjoyment and cuteness.
I was looking for something new to play and stumbled across this game thanks to a recommendation on the Cozy Games subreddit. I love alpacas—they’re just ridiculously cute—and I also have a soft spot for small indie games. After nearly two hours of playing, I can confidently say: I definitely recommend this one! There are already reviews out there that describe the gameplay better than I ever could, so instead I want to talk about the cozy factor. This game is seriously chill. The subreddit post compared it to Littlewood, and while the graphics and mechanics are different, I totally get the vibe comparison. It has that same relaxed, feel-good energy. This game has no stamina bar, no forced bedtime—you can just play at your own pace. If you forget to feed your alpacas, they’ll just give you lower-quality wool. It's a nice balance: no harsh punishments, but still enough incentive to care for your fluffy crew. And speaking of alpacas—they’re adorable. The whole game is super cute, and the background music is relaxing and fits the mood perfectly. It's great for unwinding after a long day or chilling before bed. That said, I did end up playing for nearly two hours straight yesterday… it’s definitely a bit addicting! I’ve been playing entirely on the Steam Deck, and it runs beautifully. No bugs so far, really polished, and the controls work great. Bonus points: the devs were actually active and kind on that subreddit post. That kind of care and responsiveness makes a big difference to me—it shows heart and gives me confidence that if I ever run into issues, they’ve got my back. tl;dr Super cozy and cute game—think Littlewood vibes but with alpacas! 🦙 No stamina bars, no strict bedtime, just relaxed gameplay at your own pace. Adorable alpacas, chill music, and a polished experience (played on Steam Deck—runs great!). Devs seem kind and responsive too. If you love cozy indie games, this one's a gem.
This game is an absolute gem, and if you are into cozy, chill vibes like Stardew or Slime Rancher, this one's going to scratch that itch. The art style is really adorable, it's very colorful and feels warm and inviting. The soundtrack is fantastic, it has really chill vibes, something I'd put on and have a coffee and relax to. It sets the perfect mood for diving into the game. The game play is initially subdued, but then subtly forms this addicting game play loop as you progress and start unlocking fancier equipment and techniques. I kept telling myself, "just one more day" or "I'll just get that upgrade and stop for the day" and it would suddenly be hours later. There is an incredibly rewarding log system that actually rewards you for exploring and trying new things. I had a blast filling it out and the rewards felt very meaningful, not just some tacked-on achievement. The upgrade system also felt incredibly meaningful. Typically in games, you are getting 5% to this or that. But in this game, I felt every point spent, it was refreshing. The characters were very quirky and cute and very much fit into their world. And there is a nice, tangible story with quests to go on and characters to meet that push it beyond just being a farming sim type game. There's also a fair bit of humor. It's a witty, playful tone throughout with some IYKYK references that had me chuckling, so keep an eye out. Overall, this game is like a warm hug. It's cozy, it's fun and can be subtly addicting. If you’re looking for something in this genre to sink into that’ll leave you smiling, this is it.
This is a very relaxing game with no combat. It's also really nice that you don't have to sleep if you don't want to because you don't pass out like in other games. There's also no stamina and fishing is really fun.
Very cute, fun, cozy game! Plays a lot like Slime Rancher but with lots of quests to complete and crafting to do.
THIS GAME IS SO HECKIN' CUTE! I LOVE alpaca's. Alpaca's are cuter than cats and no one can change my mind. You can collect many alpaca's, grow a farm to make foods, do quests, ride alpaca's like little fluff horses, and I'm not even like an hour in this game and I'm obsessed. I have been audibly OOHing and AWEing outloud and screaming at how cute these alpacas are. Buy this game. Love the alpacas. Feed the alpacas. Ride or die with the alpacas. 19 hours and change in and it's still absolutely cute and the support team is super friendly and quick to respond to fix any bugs. I'm trying to 100% this game but taking my time because I don't want it to end!
This. Game. Is. Amazing. Played for 13 hours straight Just get it
I am not finished with the game yet, but I am enjoying it very much!! If you enjoyed Littlewood, then I think you will like this game as well! In this game, you are an alpaca rancher where you get to gather and care for a herd of alpacas. In addition, you also get to complete a story quest by rebuilding parts of the village and helping villagers. I compare this to Littlewood because there is no stamina bar and you don’t have to sleep. You can literally work all day and night. It has very simple controls (just like two buttons) and is running beautifully on my deck so far. The graphics are gorgeous and it’s just plain fun! For $13 on Steam Deck, I think it’s really worth a shot. Lastly, I had asked a question about the game on a different Reddit post and one of the developers answered it! That’s just cool. I’m happy to support a fun game with developers who care! :)
I highly recommend this little gem right here!!! I stumbled upon it by accident and I’m so glad I did. Very chill relaxing light hearted, and the alpacas are just too darn adorable!! If you’ve been looking for a farming rpg that’s not too demanding and grindy and tons of fun quest and cute storyline. I suggest you check this one out. You won’t regret!!! Shout out to the devs for making such a cute little diamond in the rough.
