All We Need is a good first person, adventure game, but let's go into the story. On an open road a man is driving somewhere; he doesn't know where he just knows he has to drive. But soon his driving is interrupted when he nearly misses hitting a deer, after waking up he will soon be put to the test by beings far older than he could possibly realize. Now let’s go into the likes, the story is good I like the themes of regret, shame and the paths we choose and the futures we can make, it was pretty good. The gameplay is okay it's just a walking simulator with some light puzzle work, I will have to say I do like the smoking mechanic using smoking to reveal hidden paths isn't interesting idea. The graphics are good standard for these types of games with some nice uses of colors and designs, I will say I really like the black and white hand drawn style of the cutscenes when you find these memories, those are very good and very pretty to look at. The levels are good the little forest and the little buildings are nice and distinct; it can be nice to look at. The music is good well for this type of game. The voice acting was okay can be a little hammy sometimes, but the actors do a decent job. Now let’s go into the dislikes, one of the tagline for the game says that there are multiple endings, after playing the game and looking up some YouTube videos seems like there's only one real ending. Also the game doesn't have achievements which I feel like there should have been. So that’s done All We Need is a good first person, adventure game, it has a good story, okay gameplay and good graphics, so I recommend this game if you're looking for a nice short story driven free game this could be for you.
"All We Need" is a captivating psychological horror game that weaves together themes of memory and choice in the midst of a hauntingly beautiful forest. From the very first moment I entered its eerie yet enchanting world, I was taken aback by the surreal atmosphere, drawing me deeper into the experience. The voice acting is top-notch, pulling me into the story with emotions that felt both deep and unsettling. What really makes this game special is how it fully immerses you in its world. The absence of save points means you have to go through the entire experience in one go. This design choice amps up the tension, pushing you to face your fears and decisions without the safety of a pause button. At first, I was worried I might get stuck, but I found the gameplay to be challenging yet totally manageable, keeping me engaged and on the edge of my seat. "All We Need" isn’t just a game; it’s an emotional journey that stays with you long after you've finished. It skillfully balances its horror elements with a heartfelt exploration of human consciousness, making it a must-play for anyone who loves a deeply immersive narrative experience. I highly recommend it to those who are brave enough to dive in!
ppl complain about voice acting and getting stuck. I didn't get stuck and thought the voice acting is far from great, it is not detrimental. As I see it it, the biggest issue with this game is that they do not know what story they want to tell. They go for high impact by addressing emotional topics but context is missing and it all seems bland. if you want this to have impact, then start the story with something where the player is engaged, not a car crash that ends up in an emotional introspective journey - if you want an emotional journey, then start there! Yes, voice acting could be better, but re-play 'Dear Esther' and not down why it worked and why you love it and then try that. There are pieces to move around, but all in all, poor execution. Sorry for the bad review for at free game, but I know that you could do better.
A mystery to be solved by finding memories on an unsettling journey. An evening well spent.
good ideas however execution needs work The uncovering of the story via interacting with in game assets is interesting but wish there were some more engaging/interesting mechanics. The number puzzle was interesting, however could use some polishing with the responsiveness of the interfaces The story was interesting however the sense of mystery being suddenly taken away with the reveal at the end was done quite abruptly, and several other plot threads were introduced near the end that didn't go anywhere. I see what the writer was trying to do with the story but there need to be more concrete elements revealed on what actually happened to the protagonist allowing the player to come to their own conclusion as the game progresses, to be shown rather than told. This was hinted at with the dialogue choices
