A hidden masterpiece worth every Penny (Even at Full Price) I picked up Alien: Isolation for just $3 on a third party site and went in with very low expectations. After all, it’s a 12 year-old game. What could it possibly offer in 2026? I was completely blown away. Even by today’s standards, the game still looks stunning. Running on a 4K OLED with true black levels enabled, the dark, oppressive atmosphere is breathtaking. I easily capped it at 240fps on my monitor, and the visuals held up remarkably well, moody lighting, detailed environments, and that unmistakable cinematic look straight out of the original Alien film. I’ll admit it: the old IGN review had put me off the game for years. I feel a bit ashamed for letting that influence me. Alien: Isolation is close to a masterpiece. It perfectly captures the tense, claustrophobic horror of the Alien movies. The atmosphere is unmatched, every corner feels dangerous, every sound makes you freeze. The Alien itself is terrifyingly well realized: it looks incredible and its AI is genuinely impressive. It learns, adapts and hunts you in ways that still feel fresh. Yes, it can feel a little unfair at times, but that only adds to the tension. The trial and error nature of the gameplay actually works in its favor. Reaching every save station feels like a real accomplishment. The outside areas are also surprisingly well crafted and help break up the intense indoor crawling. The few negatives: The android sections can drag and feel a bit boring compared to the Alien encounters. The game is a little too long overall. The ending was pretty disappointing. But these issues are minor in the grand scheme. I was genuinely amazed by how good this game still is. For $3, this was hands down the best money I’ve ever spent on a game. I’m now a huge fan and I’m genuinely excited for any news about Alien: Isolation 2. Final Verdict: 9/10 If you haven’t played it yet, stop what you’re doing and fix that immediately. Especially at a bargain price ,you’re missing out on one of the best horror experiences ever made. Highly, highly recommended.

Its clear that while visually the game is still in decent shape today, there is some very apparent clunkiness from the early 2010s. the AI of the xenomorphs is still really good but the same cant be said for the humans, words cannot describe how stupid they are and their sections are easily the worst part of the game. There is also quite questionable encounter balancing with the alien, especially early on in the hospital but i found that challenge kinda fun to overcome. Despite all that, the game is easily one of the best in the genre to this day.

If you want to feel yourself in Alien movie, this game is the best way to do it. It's beautiful
