Alien: Isolation

lights off and headphones on. Man what a game, super fun. Sound design is amazing.

From what I got after 100%ing this game, from the intelligent AI, the claustrophobic atmosphere, and the unnerving gameplay, Alien Isolation still holds up as one of the most horrifying survival games of our generation. Despite having a slow burn at the mid game(no spoilers), it is still a certified horror classic through and through, and I can't wait for its sequel coming soon!

A fav game of mine as a longtime Alien fan! Can't wait to play the sequel (hopefully soon!) Has good scare factor and pressure from the alien. My only recommendation is to play on a more difficult setting! The Ai sometimes gets stuck in a loop and traps you in a hiding spot.

Soy un jugador que ha sido muy reticente a la hora de meterme en el género del "horror" o "survival horror". Esto se debe a que mis únicas experiencias con juegos de ese estilo fueron Resident Evil cuando era un niño, Amnesia cuando tenía alrededor de 12 años y Dead Space con unos 14. No aguanté más de 20 minutos jugando a ninguno de ellos. A raíz de una apuesta en la que me jugaba pasarme un juego de terror al completo, decidí pasarme este titulo ya que Alien es una de mis franquicias favoritas en el mundo del cine. Las primeras horas lo pasé realmente mal, con mucha tensión. Con el paso de las horas esa sensación de angustia e incomodidad se convirtió en emoción. Si bien es cierto que hasta el último momento lo seguía pasando mal, fui capaz de superar mis miedos y disfrutar de esos "malos ratos". Gracias a eso he podido jugar otros juegos de terror y eso se lo debo a Alien Isolation. Gráficamente es una auténtica delicia y a nivel artístico es un juego que se ha mantenido estupendamente para tener más de 10 años. El apartado sonoro es simple y llanamente perfecto, es probablemente lo mejor que tiene el juego junto a la IA del Alien y lo fiel que es a la estética de la franquicia. Respecto al gameplay diré que está muy bien logrado ya que consigue evolucionar a lo largo del juego como se siente el jugador a la hora de afrontar diferentes situaciones de una forma muy natural y satisfactoria. Como fan de los juegos de terror estoy seguro que encontrarás en este juego una gran experiencia y como fan de Alien vas a flipar en colores, literal. En resumen, ¡JUEGAZO!

In my opinion, the beauty of Alien: Isolation is this: It's a stealth game. You look at it and it says "horror" on the tin, but the second you step into the Sevastapol space station, you realise just how much the environment gives you spaces to hide. Yet you might feel a little claustrophobic; closed doors, sealed vents, locked access hatches - you feel like you've made a lucky escape when you manage to get a hold of the next tool you need to open up another part of the station... but as you play, it's very apparent that you're making it more accessible for threats too. You're a rat in a maze, and you're chewing holes in the walls for other creatures to get through. The inter-character relations were the part I found most lacking. When you see another friendly human/android being it should be a relief! Finally some human connection compared to the androids and alien - but alas, they too stand about like robots. Some of the more memorable friendly human encounters are when you see someone alone in contemplation; they realise just how everything has gone to hell - your one shared thought. Definitely worth playing, though. Great survival aspect, terrific tension, and superb enemy AI.
