It is a lot of fun! Definitely an older game one has to get used to but I love the setting, it is a lot of fun. Save a lot!!
Nice Arabian Nights themed game, runs fine and looks beautiful. Must play if you love classics like Sinbad, Ali Baba, Aladdin etc. Can be a little unforgiving at the start but if you make it past that point you'll have a great time.
Really old-school AD&D Second Edition game. Decent for its time, and not a bad nostalgia run.
Subestimado.
Working through my growing stack of retro games, this one truly stands out. It’s also my first dive into the classic D&D PC titles. While I know this one isn’t exactly representative of the others - being more of an action RPG than a traditional CRPG - it’s honestly really fun! The controls are surprisingly smooth for a game of its era, with the keyboard+mouse setup feeling intuitive rather than clunky, which can’t be said for a lot of its contemporaries. The story and setting are a breath of fresh air for anyone who enjoys old school fantasy games. It’s a shame the Al-Qadim setting has been all but abandoned in modern D&D, because the unique flavor here makes the whole experience feel special.
So this was a pretty good purchase in my opinion. The Arabian Nights art style and presentation definitely gives this game charm. I also found the soundtrack to be warm and enjoyable to listen to even if it's a game from 1994. It's a pretty neat CRPG that can really test you in areas, luckily there is a difficulty option at the beginning of the game. The controls may take time getting used to but it certainly isn't unplayable. If you're looking for an Arabian Nights themed CRPG then this game is for you.
Anything in the D&D gold box is pure gold! Enough said.
Wizards of the Coast <3
I own an original copy of this game that I always had trouble getting the disc to read. I had gotten it running a couple of times over the years and recalled playing the game as a child and never forgot the title. I discovered the YouTuber "aulddragon", who did a let's play and after seeing him play it, I really wanted to play the game - which reminds me of the old Zelda games and the PS1 title "Alundra", which I loved. After finding it on steam and getting it running, I was surprised to actually find the game completely playable by modern standards and even more surprised that I had fun with it, even after all these years.
