Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my initial impressions review & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/oh5H3LiBxQQ This is a neutral recommendation. There are some fun moments to be had in this game. I could see some people enjoying this game more than I did personally. The game does have nice visuals and very easy fight controls. It also has some fun missions where you do aerial combat & have to hit land targets as well. There's 3 different aircraft to unlock & they have different stats, but they pretty much feel the same once you level them up enough. Some missions you use land vehicles, but while that is a nice change-up, the land vehicle missions are buggy and uninspired. Anyways, while easy flight controls can be a good thing, the way they are implemented here for VR isn't very immersive. You basically point with your motion controllers where you want the plane to go. I was hoping for better arcade flight controls, like the ones in GTA V. This flight control method is just too dumbed down for me. You basically just point and then remember to throttle up or down when needed. The visuals are nice, not great, but good for a budget title. The sounds are not good. The music can start to get annoying very quickly. The gameplay is really where I think this game mostly missed. While some of the missions were fun, others were not. There was this one long mission that took me over and hour to complete (1.5 hours?). It was basically a huge map where you were asked to destroy all the enemy bases. Not only were there a lot of them, but they were difficult to find. The gameplay was also very repetitive in that mission. You basically were circling back to hit the land targets over and over until you finally destroyed them all. It was a complete slog to get through. On my RTX 3080, this game was mostly running at 60 fps instead of 90 and definitely not ideal. The game did crash several times in my 3 hours of gameplay. I want to estimate it crashed 4 total times. I did try using a gamepad to see if gameplay was better, but it wasn't. It's definitely best played on motion controllers. Rate 5/10. Wish Steam had sideway reviews so that I wouldn't have to thumbs up the review when the game is so mid.
If you enjoyed my review, please consider joining my Steam Curator Group. Eigentlich voll gutes Spiel...
Feels a bit like a mobile game ported to VR. The screenshots makes the plane look small but It looks different in VR. Everything is big and it feels like you're flying even though it's from behind the plane. But overall fun like a mobile game. Everything was going good until reached a level where you're driving a truck and the controls don't work so the game is kind of broken.
