*** Beware scamming by these developers *** : This developer keeps selling 2022 "AFTERLIFE: KILLING DEATH", and also the exact same game, 2019 "AFTERLIFE" a.k.a "AFTERLIFE - FPS Horror Shooter". Yes, I bought both thinking this one was the sequel. Steam doesn´t care, and won´t let me refund. Wonder when they´ll sell the third "remastered maybe?" version, without one word of heads up of course.
No estoy exagerando.

"AFTERLIFE - Killing Death" is a first-person horror game with a lot of promise, but unfortunately, it falls short in several critical areas. While the game features impressive graphics and an eerie atmosphere, the overall experience is marred by numerous bugs and performance issues. Frequent crashes make it difficult to play for extended periods, and the gameplay itself can induce motion sickness for some players. The AI is lackluster, with enemies often acting in predictable, uninspired ways or not acting at all. The needs you to kill 400 zombies to progress the story and similar mandatory tasks feel tedious and repetitive, making the game more of a grind than an enjoyable challenge. Some parts of the game are very dark, and you don't always have a flashlight, which can make navigation frustrating and add to the overall difficulty in an unpleasant way. A particularly frustrating issue is the erratic mouse behavior. Despite playing with very low mouse sensitivity, the cursor sometimes randomly turns 90-180 degrees, making navigation extremely difficult and disorienting. "AFTERLIFE - Killing Death" feels like a diamond in the rough. It had great potential, but the developer seems to have skipped the final finishing touches needed to make it truly shine. While the potential for a good horror shooter is evident, "AFTERLIFE - Killing Death" is currently not worth the investment. Hopefully, future updates will address these issues and refine this unpolished gem. Gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GtV-AFEnsw&list=PLKuVMkePc-_Mllb3XoyjwBH5f-8PEUzED
"AFTERLIFE DEFINITIVE EDITION" is a low key asset flip, a bunch of other people's assets assembled badly to make a basic game, typically this kind of thing is done by amateur developers without sufficient budget, talent and/or staff to do the job of game development professionally. It's then quickly rushed into Steam Direct. And, unsurprisingly, this never results in a product with any quality, interest, or value for gamers. This is a basic first person shooter asset flip, Digital Homicide style, it's just a bunch of assets dumped into a blender to make a minimum viable product. The developer was charging money for this asset flip, attempting to get YOUR money for someone else's Unity assets. But wait, there's more, and it's worse. The developer already released this game on Steam under a different name. They changed the name and published it again, a desperate money grab to try to get paid twice for the same flipped assets. Disgusting, isn't it? If you take this seriously (nobody did), you just run around some flipped assets and shoot a number of assets with an asset flipped gun... next to no meaningful gameplay, content, or anything else like that, but that's the thing about asset flips... they're shallow attempts to make real games, without any solid value for gamers. And remember, they were charging money for this crap. So, the game might look better than you'd expect from an amateur project, but this is because it's partially or completely made up of stock assets, "borrowed" from asset stores and free asset websites. Very little in this game is truly the creation of the "developer", it's just a bunch of rearranged assets. While there's no up front price for this asset flip, the other problem with asset flips is that when developers aren't capable of doing their job and creating high quality assets, it's also true they can't do any of the rest of the job of a game developer either. That's definitely true for "AFTERLIFE DEFINITIVE EDITION". Now on to pricing and value for gamers. There's no initial download price, but the developer was charging $5 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It seems like a nice gesture for the game to have no up-front cost anymore, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. This is also a bit of a slap in the face to anyone who showed enough questionable judgement to pay money for this... nobody got refunded. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's over 130 million unique gamers visiting Steam every month. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 5 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Since free games don't contribute to your game collector badge and other profile stuff, is this a worthwhile addition to your Steam library? I think you should give this one a miss. Although it's free, your time and storage are valuable resources, and the market is filled with superior options.
