After Life is a short interactive story with a lot of atmosphere and little gameplay. Immerse yourself with the story of Rick Dennehy, a soul who explores the memories of his loved ones after he dies in an accident.

I can't recommend this game in it's current state. There are many factors holding this title back honestly. Upon starting the game, I was met with the Settings menu , particularly the graphics settings. I chose Titan where as I have a specific machine for high end experiences and enviorments. Upon getting on with the game, the graphics are cartoonish at best and not what I was expecting. The feel is too much of one that the developer created this title as a personal project, but not with a lot of forethought or care. Many of the assets in the game tied in with the movement are simply props that are non collision (phantom based) and make them more of an afterthought in feel. The movement UI itself is fine but very unintuitive at times. The worst part I suppose, is the story and voice actors. I was not convinced in many cases to the subject matters brought up in the memories presented (one character protests doing something, but I really didn't feel their urgency in something that they professed to feel strongly about). It simply wasn't entertaining in that the story was just a generic rehash of topics really.

This is a game where you travel as a spirit and collect memories from your previous life, hear them out and go find some more. That's pretty much it, do not expect much gameplay out of it since it's an interactive story and it is presented under a walking simulator genre. Nevertheless, After Life has pretty good visuals and emotional soundtracks, though it lacks consistency in performance. In the end, I didn't enjoy the story as it wasn't very convincing due to poor voice acting and it didn't manage to hook me up with the plot itself.
5/10
Oyun nedense aşırı kısa yani boyutuna göre yine ufaktan vakit geçirmek için oynanabilir.
Can't so much say this was a game per se as there was very little, almost no, actual gaming to it. Interesting enough storyline and pretty good voice acting, but there was just so little to do and so much time to just sit around waiting for dialogue to pass. I can't say I enjoyed it very much.
This is a game where you play as your spirit, soul, what have you, you are dead but you weren't supposed to die yet so you have to go back and discover and listen to your memories. Yea. The game has terrible voice acting which left me unmoved in any manner, left me unconvinced emotionally, so I couldn't really attach myself to the story, which is what this game is supposed to do. It's mostly about story, and it is presented in a walking simulator format. The graphics are terrible which is a huge negative, it is a walking simulator, one of the things you have to nail is a world that is pretty to look at. The soundtrack is in the same realm as most other walking simulator type games, not bad, not great, just... the norm. I played it for 20 minutes before I quit so I can't go super in-depth about the entire game. In short it is an ugly walking simulator with bad voice acting that is unable to convince you. I don't recommend this to anyone, but I wish the developer good luck in their future games, this seems like their first game. I hope they take more time on the next one and are more self-critical next time. There seems little point berating a single Irish developer now down on his luck ( https://www.facebook.com/GreenSawdust/ ) as the company has been forced to close its doors for good for not being able to pay the tax revenues. The death of the game and the need to move on is somewhat an ironic portrayal of the themed message being hammered constantly throughout the game. Rick Dennehy a boring family man died prematurely ... whatever that means, and is now in limbo as a soul being guided by another soul tour guide named Gavin who likes to say the name 'Rick' a hell of a lot. To move out of limbo Rick needs to 'want' to move on so he is granted soul existence on Earth to collect memories of the past and the present. Seriously this is your concocted up view of the afterlife? Garden manure is not good enough for you? Emotional investment in the characters was absolutely zero for me. 1) This character Rick and his family was boring. Nothing interesting was happening, they were all talking about humdrum daily stuff. Couldn't you have picked a more interesting character for subject? How about the head of the Yakuza family, or an atheist like Stephen Hawking free for once from his wheelchair, or a Siamese twin with suicidal issues. Point being anyone other than Rick, whose life was so free from turmoil that his life story could easily be used for sleep insomnia therapy. Second the voice acting was abysmal. His daughters sounded like a eunuch being kicked in the nether region while reading a placard and the dog, oh boy, the dog sounded like his antidepressants aren't working and need to be doubled. It was just practically impossible to immerse yourself in the game with such tom foolery in the voice dubbing section. Lastly, one of the biggest headaches for me was the tedious hard to find blinking mechanic of locating the memories. Searching around the hospital ward for pin sized memories or going on an endurance marathon through a Hugh Hefner sized mansion was paracetamol popping. Granted it’s free, granted many family and friends wrote a positive review for this game, granted many gamer's not related to the developer got extremely excited about this also. So what. That proves nothing. A senseless Labrador puppy gets excited over the smell of poop too. At the end of the day. None of the positive points saved this game. Time to move on. Green Sawdust have you ever thought of becoming the head of Yakuza? https://youtu.be/cT8aexp_RBQ If you enjoyed reading this review feel free to subscribe to my curator page. A very athmospherical, story based experience. I highly recommend if you enjoy a good story.
