The Only Game My Girlfriend Calls “That Stupid Game” My girlfriend has walked past me playing thousands of games—shooters, strategy games, RPGs, games where I’ve committed war crimes against entire civilizations—and never said a word. But the second I boot up AdVenture Capitalist, she looks at me like she has just discovered a deeply embarrassing secret about the man she loves. First comes the side-eye. Then the sigh. Then: “Are you seriously still playing that stupid game?” Yes. Yes, I am. Apparently, she can tolerate me spending six hours saving a fictional kingdom, but watching me click on a cartoon lemonade stand is where she draws the line. I think it’s the combination of cheerful music, smiling businessmen, and the horrifying realization that I’m voluntarily watching numbers increase while my brain slowly transforms into a warm bowl of capitalist oatmeal. She’ll leave the room, come back twenty minutes later, and ask, “What are you even doing?” “I’m optimizing my angel investors.” That usually makes her leave again. The worst part is that the game is genuinely satisfying. One minute you’re casually purchasing another pizza shop. The next, you’re calculating profit multipliers, planning your 47th "prestige" reset. You start with a lemonade stand and eventually own an interplanetary mega-corporation, despite contributing almost nothing to society besides occasionally pressing “Buy Next.” It’s relaxing, simple, and dangerously addictive—the perfect brain-off comfort game. Your numbers go up, your responsibilities disappear, and your significant other gradually loses respect for you. 10/10 — Would reset my entire business empire again while my girlfriend watches, visibly reconsidering our future together.

The numbers, all about the numbers. So many numbers. Need more numbers. Numbers good. Update: Have not seen the sun in 3 days Update 2: The numbers are singing to me
