LIVES UP TO THE HYPE!! Great visual novel!!!
There's intrigue and a sense of mystery to this Visual Novel about messy college students making bad choices. This story is emotionally messy. The writing is solid and did successfully put me back in the mindset of college days. My favorite line was a college student saying "oh, I didn't know that, I don't really know how to read" with a straight face. My only gripe was mild annoyance at the casual "dude" and "bro" going on in the dialogue (thankfully that's not all the time and limited to two NPCs). My first good faith playthrough ended badly (the achievement that popped accused me of trying to mess up on purpose, which I genuinely did not). So, a word of warning: this story is not nice. Everyone is young and chaotic all the time, self-destructive and desperate sometimes, and the best (and most wholesome) scene in my opinion was a hug
which did not involve Addy
. It's worth a try if you're interested in the messiness and uncovering dark, personal secrets - go play it, see what you think of Addy. Some story beats allow you to make choices that seem unhinged. Why did you do that, really?

Addy, developed and published by Sofia Gyger, is a choice-driven visual novel that blends high school drama, mystery, and light romance into a tightly focused narrative experience. Set in the peculiar environment of Nowhere Tech, the game casts players as a transfer student stepping into an unfamiliar social ecosystem filled with eccentric classmates, hidden tensions, and personal secrets. From the outset, Addy establishes itself as a story-first experience, prioritizing dialogue, character interaction, and consequence-based branching paths over traditional gameplay mechanics. The role of the transfer student serves as an effective narrative device. As an outsider, you are naturally positioned to observe, question, and influence the world around you. Conversations become the primary means of progression, and nearly every response you choose shapes how others perceive you. Friendly remarks may open doors to deeper trust, sarcasm might create friction, and guarded answers can distance you from potential allies. This emphasis on social nuance gives the game a sense of realism, even as its setting carries hints of exaggerated mystery. Central to the experience is the enigmatic figure Addy, whose presence ties together much of the unfolding intrigue. As you grow closer—or drift further away—from certain characters, you begin to uncover fragments of hidden truths about the school and the people within it. The narrative does not rely solely on romance or interpersonal drama; instead, it layers investigative elements into the character arcs, encouraging players to pay attention to subtle clues and dialogue shifts. The mystery gradually deepens, adding tension and unpredictability to what might otherwise be a straightforward dating simulation. Branching structure is one of the game’s strongest features. With multiple routes and four major endings, Addy rewards exploration and experimentation. Choices made early in the story can ripple forward in unexpected ways, affecting not only personal relationships but also access to specific events and revelations. This design encourages replayability, as different dialogue paths reveal alternate perspectives and new character insights. The branching logic feels deliberate rather than arbitrary, making each outcome feel earned. Romantic subplots are woven into the narrative without overshadowing the central mystery. Several characters can develop into potential love interests, each bringing distinct emotional tones and narrative themes. Some routes emphasize vulnerability and shared understanding, while others lean toward tension and complicated chemistry. Romance here is not merely decorative; it influences trust, loyalty, and access to key story moments. These personal connections provide emotional grounding amid the broader intrigue. Visually, Addy adopts a hand-drawn 2D art style that complements its intimate focus on character expression. The aesthetic is clean and expressive, allowing subtle shifts in mood to come through in facial animations and body language. Backgrounds reinforce the school setting without overwhelming the dialogue-heavy format. The soundtrack supports the tone with understated compositions that shift between lighthearted moments and more suspenseful scenes, enhancing immersion without distracting from the narrative. The writing embraces realism in its portrayal of teenage and young adult interactions. Dialogue includes casual humor, moments of awkwardness, and occasional mature themes reflective of campus life. Rather than sensationalizing these elements, the game integrates them naturally into character dynamics. This grounded approach makes the emotional beats—whether comedic, tense, or heartfelt—feel believable. While Addy does not feature complex mechanics beyond dialogue choices, its strength lies in emotional engagement and narrative depth. It invites players to consider how small conversational decisions can alter relationships and outcomes. The relatively contained scope of the story works in its favor, delivering a focused and replayable experience that does not overextend its premise. Ultimately, Addy stands as a thoughtful indie visual novel that prioritizes character-driven storytelling and meaningful choice. By combining social drama with underlying mystery, it creates a layered experience that rewards attentive play. For players who enjoy branching narratives, subtle intrigue, and romance intertwined with personal growth, it offers a compelling and introspective journey through the complexities of connection and consequence. Rating: 7/10
Great visual novel, with an interesting plot full of funny moments but also an intriguing mystery involving the titular character. The main plot is relatively linear, but the protagonist (you can choose their pronouns, major and which classes to attend) has lots of apparently minor choices that can lead them to a vast array of different scenes (sometimes with very surprising results!).
i love making decisions that are more than very questionable stella is bpookei
