Good old AaaAAaAAaAaaaa fun with very polished graphics!
unless this is something unrelated, I could've sworn they were intending to have VR elements to this title too. Shame, would've been a lot of fun. Still, decent game for its price if you want something visually busy and arcadey to mess with now and again~
I'm chagning this review to negative instead. The positives: + It's not just a remaster, it's a completely rebuilt game with different assets, better artstyle, it actually looks like a sequel + It controls much better than the originals. The game now controls with mouse movement only. No need to rely on the direction keys, which makes the whole thing a much better experience. Neutral: ? The progression is super streamlined and linear. Unfortunately the joke levels are not in the game anymore. Negatives: - The options menu is a disgrace to PC games, you cannot set anything up regarding graphics, like absolutely nothing. So if you want to change the render resolution (to 1080p for example) if your PC is slow, use this in the launch options of the game. -screen-height 1080 -screen-width 1920 - The game's scoring is absolutely broken. I'm sure it was never tested and the highscores were never reached by developers. The beginning is super easy, but for some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason the level scoring changes in a way that it's impossible to score more than 3 stars. You need to reach 4 stars on most levels to unlock all the levels. With some levels it's literally impossible. So it means you won't be able to experience all of the levels you paid for. Another problem is that the game never relly shows you how to get 5 stars, you need to find invisible level specific spots (needle threads) to get highscores, but you need to memorize where they are and - check this - they don't always trigger! Maybe it's just a skill issue, but the fact that the achievements show that less than 2% of players have all the levels unlocked is kind of telling. - The screenshake effect (that you can't turn off of course) makes the game look like it's running at 30 FPS. - The game doesn't even save your highest score. (There are no online highscores either, but I don't care about that anyway)
fun score run game.
IT'S SO GOOD TO BE BACK. For those new to this game, it's like ski-free in first person with a banging sound track. Gone is the zany punk attitude and early difficulty, but the mouse control is much better and all the levels are new. Update: 20 levels in... is it ever going to get hard?
Glad to see a new AaaaaAAaaaAAAaaAAAAaAAAAA!!! game, this is just as fun as the previous games with nearly 200 levels. There isn't official controller support but you can use Steam Input and Joystick Mouse and it works pretty well. The only thing I'd really like to see is VR support but I know that's a big ask for a small indie game.
It's hard for me to rate this game. I remember having more fun with the original, and although I expected the game to have some kind of VR mode, there isn't one. The menu looks cheap and I feel like it's a step down compared to the previous game. Also, for some reason, my PC also gets very hot while playing Aaaa.. Remastered, so maybe it's not very well optimized? I don't know, I don't think the requirements are very high for a game like this. But overall, the gameplay is still great. I'll have to play it some more and see more levels, because these first ones feel pretty easy. I also like the visuals. I might try it on the Steam Deck as well, as it feels like a game that would be fun to play on the handheld too. I'm giving this game "Yes" but keep in mind that I would choose "Maybe" if there was such an option.
