I'm generally not a fan of these slow paced point and click/puzzle games but I found this game to be pleasantly surprising especially for an RPGmaker title. You feel like this is going to be a generic murder plot with caricature type characters but they end up getting fleshed out in a very satisfying way. The script is overall pretty solid hitting dramatic notes when it's needed without feeling too much of a downer and also injects some humor that although not landing 100% of the time I found funny more often than not. The writing seems to be stronger here than similar games in the genre, and I was genuinely interested to see how the story played out and the fate of the characters, enough to finish the game and also see what all the different endings have to offer. I thought the puzzles and the in-depth knowledge of magic and rituals was pretty interesting as someone who isn't familiar with this sort of occult stuff. It definitely has the kind of puzzles that will require you to remember details and not forget about the items you've accumulated in the inventory since they can provide clues to help you find solutions, don't feel scared to consult a guide if you're stuck because on a few occasions I felt unsure of where to find an alchemical ingredient or how to progress the story, but thankfully the game usually gives enough context clues to sort the solutions out for yourself. The game is also pretty dark and has some disturbing imagery/implications so if you're looking for a light-hearted adventure this is a lot more on the macabre side with often some dark humor injected. The musical and visual atmosphere click well in the game and make it appropriately atmospheric for a game involving ghosts and the supernatural, it's very engrossing from that standpoint for a low fi adventure type game. If you're looking for a solid deduction mystery and/or an adventure game that's mysterious macabre and a little different this might be right up your alley. $5 is definitely a reasonable asking price for the time you'll put in, I was able to finish the game in about 6 hours using a guide, check it out!
Pretty good for an indie game. Nice plot and several possible endings is a good start. Also, looking for spell ingredients and casting spells is fun. I was surprised by good soundtrack too! Don't miss the bonus chapter!
Slight humour
I didn't get far into the story yet but I'm definitely interested in it so far. The graphics are cute and I like the characters/conversations. I need answers so I'm going to continue playing it for sure.
Gutes Spiel
An excellent example of what someone with talent and dedication can do with RPG Maker! You have a mystery to solve and are slowly (or maybe quickly, all things considered!) drawn into a world of magic when a young man is murdered. You gather ingredients in a sort of puzzle-solving method, and then craft various spells to uncover the mystery. Four different endings and a bonus chapter as well! Honestly this game is a steal at full price, and an absolute must purchase at any sale price.
boring and stupid story.

"A Sceptic's Guide to Magic" – это игра, которая, к сожалению, оставила у меня неоднозначные впечатления. В целом, "A Sceptic's Guide to Magic" - это неудачная попытка создать интересную игру о магии. К сожалению, я не могу рекомендовать её тем, кто ищет качественный и увлекательный игровой опыт.
