特别特别好,要是有生之年有续作就好了。
"A Random Maze 某个迷宫" doesn't seem to have been made with the godawful blight on gaming that is the RPG Maker asset/construction kit... but it's almost completely indistingishable from an asset flip churned out with it. This one is not an RPG even though it looks 100% like it's an RPG Maker asset flip. Instead this is a badly written e-book stapled to a highly mediocre pixelcrap adventure/puzzle game of zero notable value to gamers. Just an amateur flip/kitbash fan-fiction. As a construction kit kitbash/asset flip, this doesn't contain much in the way of original game assets, it's just a bunch of pixelcrap assets from the construction kit combined with that all too common high school anime club dropout fan-fiction cringe writing. These JRPG construction kits are pretty much all the same as far as gamers are concerned... low quality engine, pixelcrap "art" instead of anything remotely contemporary or professional, completely amateurish design and implementation... "A Random Maze 某个迷宫", like all the other JRPG construction kit asset flips, has no real value as a game for gamers at all. The argument can be made that these construction kit toys are intended to let would-be developers learn something about real game design without having any skill, talent, or training, or to pass little demos around with friends. But what's happened here is someone got their hands on it and thought it was an "Ez-Mode" button to turn themselves into real game developers without having to do any of the real work or have any of the skill and talent that real developers need. The result is this disaster. There's no English translation for the game, but that's okay. The language of bad games is universal. So, it's hard to describe this as a game, the focus of the product is more like that of an e-book/visual novel, there's only minor, shallow and uninteresting gameplay elements. The crux of this is to push some very low quality, badly done fan-fiction tier writing, where we see once more a developer fail to understand the importance of "Show, don't tell", and for whatever reason, weren't able to convey their narrative through gameplay, giving us endless lines of badly written e-book text instead. My gaming rig is not a kindle. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. This is "free" enough (not every "free" game in the "free" section is truly free, there's usually some hidden price tag), at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. In terms of public reception, this failed. There's well over 130 million gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at less than 100 concurrent players, they couldn't even break three figures, and now there's basically nobody playing it. Even though it's free. This is a dismal public reception, but it's easy to see why gamers rejected it. Given that this free title won't increase your game collector count, is it worth your time to add it to your library? I think you should give this one a miss. Although it's free, your time and storage are valuable resources, and the market is filled with superior options.
Developer Response!
The developer has weighed in to inform everyone they didn't read the Developer Usage Rules for Steam "partners", or they deliberately ignored the part where Valve says:
Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to. A developer response will frequently draw more attention than the original statement, potentially turning a small issue into a much larger community discussion. It's also not a good idea to use this feature to refute customer opinions. Your direct attention can be seen as validation or a defensive attempt to silence your customers.
The developer tries to defend his toxic use of an EULA (which he could change at any time in any kind of hostile act he chooses) by attacking a reviewer. A disgusting, unacceptable act from an untrustworthy developer who pushed utter garbage onto Steam. If the developer was serious and could be trusted, there would be no EULA on garbage this bad. But there is because he seeks to enact control over users at some point in the future. Nothing in the developers pointless breach of Valve guidelines changes any of the objective facts of my review. My review stands unaltered. I cannot recommend this game to anyone.
