Some games are good, a few games are great, most are alright. This is not one of those games. Come explore this labyrinth of menus that make number bigger. Watch number get big, only to get small, to get big again, faster this time even!
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.

Honestly a pretty fun clicker with late game idling, with very cute art and a satirical take on the "freemium" gaming industry. I really enjoyed my time spent, however I cannot recommend it at this time due to two major issues: One, it doesn't actually seem to save. The continue button on the main menu does nothing for me. Two, the achievements don't work. None of the steam achievements have popped for me, and the in game achievements section still appears mostly empty despite the fact that I should've achieved most of them in my play time already. Once these problems are fixed I will edit my review and change it to a positive one. Edit: About 1 day after I posted this the devs released a patch that fixed achievements, and may fix saves made going forward. I've still had to restart but hopefully it'll be the last time. Additionally, I do still have some concerns about the one achievement that activated in game (first click) not popping on steam, but maybe it will later. So I'm sticking to my word and changing the review over to a positive one. Thanks for the hard work, devs!

A Bad Clicker is exactly the kind of game that made me laugh because it openly admits what it is doing. I start by clicking a button to make a number bigger, then gradually unlock more ways to automate the process and make the numbers grow faster. It sounds incredibly basic, but I liked how the game turns the usual clicker formula into a joke about work, money and endless progression. The clicking itself is intentionally repetitive, but the game does not leave me doing everything manually forever. Automation eventually takes over, which lets me step back while production continues in the background. I enjoyed that transition because it gives the simple clicking a purpose. I am not just clicking for the sake of clicking. I am trying to build a system that can keep growing without needing me constantly involved. The technology tree gives the progression much more structure. Unlocking new functions and bonuses gradually changes how efficient my setup becomes, and I liked having different improvements to work toward. There are also pets that grow alongside me, which adds a little personality to an otherwise very mechanical experience. The ability to explore the solar system and meet characters also makes the game much bigger than the basic clicker presentation suggests. The fake cash shop is probably my favorite joke in the entire game. It looks like a familiar monetization system, but the game openly treats it as a parody of those practices rather than actually asking me for real money. I thought that was a clever way to make fun of the genre while still using its familiar structure. The writing also keeps throwing in weird references and jokes, which helps stop the endless number growth from becoming completely lifeless. My biggest issue is that the game can still become repetitive despite all of its jokes and systems. The basic loop remains focused on making numbers bigger, unlocking upgrades and repeating the process. Some of the later progression can also feel like a lot of menu management rather than meaningful gameplay, especially once automation is doing most of the work. I also think the humor will determine how much I enjoy the game. The intentionally bad presentation, strange references and satirical tone are clearly the main personality of the experience. I enjoyed that style, but it can sometimes feel like the joke is more important than the actual game underneath it. Thankfully, the offline progression means I can leave it alone and return later without feeling like I have to keep clicking constantly. Overall, A Bad Clicker is a surprisingly entertaining parody of the clicker genre. I liked the automation, technology tree, pets and especially the fake cash shop because they give the game a sense of humor beyond simply making numbers increase. It is still repetitive by nature, but the satire and strange little world give it enough personality to make the grind more enjoyable than I expected. Rating: 6.4/10
