Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.14/day in the week to Sep 1 → 1.57/day in the week after.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.25/day in the week to Jul 26 → 0.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

My score: 7.5/10 ⭐ TL;DR: A fast, unforgiving retro traffic racer with gorgeous pixel art and an absolutely banging electronic soundtrack. 🟦 NOTE: No multiplayer of any kind is available.
Overview
A great retro-style pixel-art traffic racer with beautiful scenery and a fantastic soundtrack. There's not much else to say: the game looks great, but unfortunately you spend most of your time staring at your car's ass. And you'd better keep your eyes glued to it, because crashing makes it surprisingly difficult to recover lost positions. The game comes with a classic arcade career mode and a pleasant, potentially endless time-attack mode where overtaking traffic adds precious seconds to the clock. The latter also changes scenery frequently, which helps keep things fresh.
One Thing I Liked / One Thing I Didn’t
✔️ Liked: While racing you can switch between different soundtracks at the press of a button, which is always appreciated when the music is this good. ✖️ Didn't: The CPU drivers' unnecessary emoji reactions. Depending on their distance from the camera, those angry/sad faces can actually obstruct your view, which is the last thing you need in a fast-paced driving game.
Key Points
[*]
DIFFICULTY:
Some races can be pretty tough, but nothing completely insurmountable. [*]
PRESENTATION:
Easily one of the game's strongest aspects, although you rarely have time to appreciate it. The scenery looks great, but the parallax scrolling occasionally does something... questionable. I'm not entirely sure it's supposed to look like that. [*]
STORY:
It's a racing game. What kind of story do you want, exactly? [*]
GAMEPLAY/GAMEPLAY LOOP:
A retro arcade traffic racer with occasional police chases, a pleasant but underdeveloped map editor, and a focus on weaving through traffic without turning your car into scrap metal. [*]
TECHNICAL POLISH:
No significant glitches or bugs detected. The questionable parallax effect mentioned above is the only thing that caught my eye. [*]
MONEYxCONTENT VALUE:
It comes pretty close to my €1 = 1 hour rule: I completed it in just under 9 hours for €10. There are better options on Steam, but if you're into retro racing games, this is absolutely worth considering—especially on sale.
This game is great, brings back the vibe of older Mega Drive/SNES era titles. It is a lot of fun, and games like this were mostly about the visuals, style and sense of speed, all of these are present here, which is good. Now, like most of those older games, this can also be extremelly annoying, lets go over some of the drawbacks: 1. The emojis should be optional, back in the day this wasn't a thing and feels out of place in a throwback game. 2. The collision detection models are slightly off, sometimes you hit obstacles or other cars while being outside of their models. 3. The background screen scrolling (IMO) should be toned down Everything else is great, I've seen people complaining about the track selection screen, this was a thing in the old Lotus II for the Mega Drive, and the player is still able to manually change the track during gameplay, not an issue. The music itself is also great, mostly modern synthwave tracks that go very well with the racing.
Although it hits right in the nostalgia neurons, it lacks something very basic, that Outrun had in the arcade times: analogue steering. Also its one of these games you buy for under a dorrah and 100% in several hours.
バグったんかってくらい単調 延々ほぼ真っすぐの道を走らされる。北海道かよ タイトーグランプリより単調なんじゃないか そんなとこまで80年代にしてどうする
A true gem of the game Really nice retro 80s style arcade car racing. Great soundtrack, great gameplay. You can own 6 cars and upgrade regarding the stats as speed, handling and resistance to damage. I like the landscapes and design of the cars, really brings me back of horizon chase and other arcade games when we used buy coins on fairies. Overall feel: 9/10
No custom Keybinding No smooth steering Better look for Outrun coast 2 coast via emulation or a physical copy or get Slipstream With 90% off, this one is okay... probably.

Bru, you can't remap the controls?
For the 99 cents I paid for it, I can recommend it. However, wouldn't recommend 80's Overdrive for more than $5. There just isn't much here for more than a few bucks. I don't mind shallow retro racing games, but 80's Overdrive feels a lot more like Pole Position (Atari 2600 or 7800, take your pick) than even the early NES game Rad Racer. Except never have I played a racing video game that wants the player to make a hard left to avoid the bulk of the CPU racers as their tires fail to grip. Beyond that, it is just a matter of avoiding the sides of the track, traffic and other racers. As well as the occasional police that only target the player pulling a head, getting in the path and stopping three times before giving up. 80's Overdrive offers a few cars and upgrades. However, I never really noticed much of a difference in my cars performance against the top couple of racers beyond becoming mandatory to keep up. The upgrades more often felt like my car had less control as I could no longer hold down the gas around every turn. And I suspect that will become the case further and further into the game. Perhaps the most annoying element of 80's Overdrive is the upkeep and fees. Every race, including the very first one, require an entry fee. Your car also uses fuel that has to be purchased to fill the tank. In addition, any damage your car takes will eventually need to be repaired. All this takes money out of the race earnings the player gains. Meaning the player should always keep a bit of a bankroll, or else end up playing a little car washing mini-game to get enough cash to enter racing again. None of it is particularly engaging or fun. Just tedious to top off fuel and repairs or keep a little scratch in the bank instead of buying that new part or car. There is also an Out Run style time trial. This links bunch of the courses together. Many of which do have a sort of Out Run look to them already. It's fine. Though, I'd rather just play Out Run instead. Perhaps the most compelling part of this game is the 18 music tracks. It's mostly electronica/techno type-stuff, but overall some really good tunes to race to. The game even allows the player to cycle through them all while racing. Which is pretty neat. Some of the reviews mention that all the tracks are flat. That isn't strictly true. Many of the early tracks are flat, but the mountain track has some undulating hills. They aren't super steep or long compared to many of the racing games 80's Overdrive took inspiration from, but the hills as small as they are, have a pretty convincing effect. My biggest complaints are that the gameplay is shallow. Which for me wanting a retro-style, simple game isn't that big of a deal. However, to give the game an illusion of depth, new cars and be purchased and upgraded. Though this is more of a keeping up with Jones than anything to make the player feel like they are making progress. And I could absolutely do without needing upkeep of fuel, repairs or race fees. The car washing mini-game isn't fun nor technically annoying enough, but having to go back to the cheaper entry fee races to build a nest egg certain is.
