About the Game

"The Ashen You" is a 3D murder mystery game designed exclusively for four players.

Players become suspects in a murder by fire, reliving memories, investigating the scene, and discussing the case with one another in order to uncover the killer hiding among them.

Can you keep your own secrets hidden? Can you expose the secrets of others?

The ending each character reaches depends on the choices you make.

Please enjoy this one-of-a-kind story experience, where you take on the role of a protagonist in a mystery novel.

Characters

0. Nicolas Alvier – The Young Man
A young nobleman who received the “Soot Curse” one year ago.

Since then, he has been living in a manor in a remote region. His hobby is playing string instruments.

On the night of his birthday, he is found burned to death.

1. Léa Alvier – The Young Girl
The eldest daughter of the Alvier family, and the young nobleman’s younger sister.

She accompanied him when he was moved from the main family estate to the remote manor. Her hobby is painting.

2. Nathalie Fournier – The Maid
The only maid working at the manor.

She is extremely capable at her job, and takes pride in that fact. Her hobby is unknown.

3. Daniel Bernard – The Priest
A priest with deep knowledge of demons.

He came to the manor in order to cure the young nobleman’s curse. His hobby is sleeping.

4. Joël Alvier – The Patriarch
The head of the Alvier family. He wears a mask.

He came to the manor to celebrate the young nobleman’s birthday. His hobby is watching theater.

How the Game Unfolds

0. Tutorial
An NPC guide welcomes you, much like when visiting a physical murder mystery venue.

We have prepared a careful, easy-to-understand tutorial for beginners who are new to murder mysteries.

1. Memory of the Crime
Each player chooses one of the four suspects and relives the day of the incident from that character’s perspective.

What kind of person are you? Are you the culprit? What secrets and goals do you have?

All of this is revealed here.

These scenes are presented in a 3D visual novel format, making them not only visually engaging, but also easier to remember when it comes to the finer details of the case.

2. Investigation
Players split into two pairs to investigate the manor and collect evidence.

It is important to collect and hide evidence that could be inconvenient for you, but it is also important to find key evidence that may help identify the culprit and share it with your allies.

3. Discussion
Share the information you each possess, including memories from the day of the incident and the evidence you have collected, and work together to unravel the truth behind the case.

Evidence you want everyone to see can be placed on the table to make it “public.”

4. Voting
Based on the clues gathered so far, players vote on who they believe the culprit is.

The person who receives the most votes is restrained as the culprit.

This is where fate branches.

5. Ending
The ending is presented as a 3D visual novel in which all players participate, and the route changes depending on the result of the vote.

Did you manage to protect your secret? Were you able to identify the culprit?

Act out the conclusion together, and witness the ending with your own eyes.

6. Truth Revealed
The NPC guide appears once again, and the full truth behind the incident is explained.

7. After-Talk
Inside a train at sunset, you can spend 30 minutes talking with everyone about the story you just experienced.

The game experience truly continues until you make it “home.”

Escaping danger through our own quick thinking, struggling forward toward a goal — as a child, I loved those kinds of adventures where the protagonist fought their way through hardship.

But at the same time, have you ever wished that you yourself could become the protagonist of a story?

"The Ashen you" is a stage built to make that dream come true.

On this stage, where everyone is both protagonist and audience, use your own wit to carve open a path and move the story forward.

Due to the game’s high sensitivity to spoilers, we kindly ask for your cooperation in protecting the integrity of the story.

To ensure that this title and the genre itself can grow alongside the culture of content creation, we have established the following guidelines:

• Live streaming of gameplay is not allowed.
  However, recorded video uploads are permitted.
  Note: Watch parties are allowed only if the host has already played the game.

• The end credits must be shown in the video.
  If your playthrough is split into multiple videos, showing the credits in just one of them is sufficient.
