In this puzzle-platformer you'll need creativity, cruelty and an absolute lack of morals as you help the evil Professor Splattunfuder complete his life's work - to create the most horrific recipe book ever, 101 Ways To Die!

This game made me laugh! I love the presidentail edition with Hillary and Trump, but the original version is just as fun. It's easy to pick up and play, although it gets more clever and creative later on with a mix of great gameplay and dark humour.
I'm playing Steam games in alphabetical order, and you can watch my review here: https://youtu.be/t6vgzPNGzR4 Prefer to read? 101 Ways to Die takes the core gameplay of Bad Rats, and makes many improvements to it, but somehow turns the end result into a boring, repetitive, and souless game that is entirely forgettable. Place traps to send the unfortunate Splatts to an untimely demise in an attempt to rediscover all 101 ways to die. Only, the experiments don't actually let you (re)discover them. Also you can't place traps wherever you want, only on the surfaces the games lets you place them on - which means you're often just trying to figure out where the game wants you to put things, rather than using your own creativity to find a solution. The devs had the right idea, but the wrong execution. Making some challenges require precise timing using traps with delayed activations is just a recipe for frustration, and even though there's a fast forward mode, nothing will ever move as quickly as you want. When I can beat a level because a Splatt walks into a stationary boulder and dies, something has gone wrong. The game is competent, and playable, but not fun. It's a good lesson for devs as to how a game can technically tick the right boxes, but lack everything that makes a game appealing to a player.
I have attempted to play this game multiple times since purchase under various and recommended configurations. I can't even get passed the tutorial before the game seizes and locks up my computer. My total time spent on this game is around 40 minutes and the majority of that has been waiting hoping the game recovers. If i could go back in time and tell myself not to get this game I would.
After a couple of months of owning the game and multiple e-mails with the devs themselves to solve an issue which rendered this game unplayable I have finally got to the bottom of the issue and fixed it - myself, although the team (Nick Parker) were very attentive and helpful. The game does not like recording software - AT ALL. So if you are running recording software, close it down before playing this! Otherwise, it simply will not work. The game is actually very enjoyable and wonderful in design. Think Lemmings, but rather than rescue the blighters, you have to murder them.. in the most horrific ways. If you like challenging titles, this may tickle you in all the right places. I have found it very challenging in places, yet adorable in its brutal way. The team seem to have put in a lot of work in to this and although there does appear to be an issue with recording software (Which, if sorted, will hopefully give the game much more coverage, which I feel would be deserved), I believe it is actually worth a purchase. The two recording progs I was using were Plays.TV which would auto run in the background and Action! - both of these kill 101 Ways to Die. I am unsure how others have managed to record game footage, but if you want to enjoy this little hidden gem, ensure you have shut down both of these. Please see my original review below: The game does not work. After contacting the team (after being advised to do so by the devs on the discussion page), I have not received a response. It appears many people have found the game to not be working too. Very frustrating as I was looking forward to this. Until a fix is found I would 100% advise you to steer clear of this game as it is broken.

Well now. I gave this one a proper chance. I played it late at night, four times over, when the house was quiet and my patience already spent elsewhere. About six hours in all. Once I even had to take it apart and put it back together again after it broke itself and could not find its own pieces. That is not a thing I enjoy doing twice. At first, I understood what it was reaching for. The novelty is the point. A little shock, a little dark humor, the promise of seeing what odd contraption comes next. I wanted it to behave. I wanted to like it. For a short while, that curiosity carried me.
But the puzzles asked more stubbornness than thought. It became less about solving and more about enduring—holding on long enough to earn the next spectacle. Like scrubbing a floor not because it is dirty, but because someone keeps spilling on purpose. What finally wore me down was not the idea, but the fit. The screen never quite settled itself properly. The windows felt wrong for a desk, as though the game believed it lived on a smaller table than the one it was given. It made everything feel careless, even when much care had clearly been taken. When I finished, I felt amused, irritated, and done. I am glad I saw it. I do not wish to return. The house has stayed peaceful without it.
