007 First Light

Pros: The developer put a lot of effort into making the game feel like a Bond movie and not just a generic shooting game. Infiltration and espionage start out feeling quite smooth and entertaining, despite being simple. Hand to hand combat is smooth and pretty fun. Gameplay feels great for a while and the story starts out pretty good. Cons: True to the franchise, James typically has to shoot his way out of the final moments of each level. This is where the game falls apart. The dev's solution to difficulty was to make most cover useless and put as many enemies on screen as possible. This turns James into a bullet sponge, and it just feels dumb. Infilitration and espionage do not evolve after the first couple levels, so these aspects of the game outstay their welcome by the end stages. WAY too much time spent doing stuff that could have been automatic. I don't need to walk around MI6 picking up my gadgets for 10 minutes between every mission. The intro is too long. By the time you're assessing whether you like the missions, your refund period will have been over for a while. I might, but haven't finished because I don't want to do the same old espionage tricks on another two levels.

Bond movie as a great game. IOI is the appropriate developer for any future bond game. 8.5/10

Very fun game, but an even more excellent long form movie! I want this dude to become the next James Bond on the big screen!
