Zombie Freaks is an RGM title, which may be a turn off to some, but it's done well. I'm currently at the half way mark, and the variety of enemies, environments and weapons, has been great. Wolves, rats, an array of different zombies and soldiers. As for weapons, you start with a knife and soon pick up a pistol. From there you will find a shotgun, uzi, revolver and an AK (although I haven't found that just yet). The art here is brilliant, right down to the textures, the detail is great. The music fits nicely and is rather catchy, with an '80s synthwave like soundtrack, you can't go wrong. There are also some cheesy one liners that add a nice touch and thankfully, they're not over done. The only real down side are the engine limitations. Depending on your system you may have a lot of difficulty with the mouse aim. There is a fix for this, but sadly it has not worked for me. But hey, this is only a minor issue as there are keyboard alternatives and the price is ridiculously low. So if you're a fan of Wolf 3D type FPS titles, give this one a go!
the game should have better mouse movement for players who want to use it
So I bought this back in October of 2021. I love retro FPS games, this looked like something that might scratch that ithch. I attempted to play this when purchased, and had the same issue I am having still with this mouse. only reason i decided to give it another shot was I saw there was a patch for the mouse and decided to try it again with the same dumb issue. I am asking for a refund. Yes this long after having it. I gave it a chance to be fixed and it wasn't. The mouse support for this is just bad! I use the Razer Deathadder 2 not top shelf, but its a good mouse that gets the job done, and for some reason there is an intense input lag on this game and this game alone. If I hover the mouse it will actually move, but when the mouse is laying flat like it should it barely sputters. This is 2022 add some controller support or get the mouse thing figured out. I'm not playing this with just a keyboard, again its 2022.
A small game for a one evening. Has to be good for Wolfenstein 3D lovers.
I want to be playing on gamepad.
Its a simple modern DOS style fps game with zombies :D. Those with a high end gaming mouse it is recommended to drop the poly rate down to 125hz and lower your dpi. This seems to be a common complaint with this game, the controls mainly with mouse movement are unresponsive or too quick and no settings in game to correct it. If you like the indie FPS scene on PC that are unique or old school I do recommend this as it is fun to play through and experience.
This is a fun old school doom type game with tons of different levels, guns, and enemies. whats not to love?
An 'F' for "Effort". 'Zombie Freaks' is a bargain bin corridor combat game on the level of Wolf3d, but with shootable locks. The maze-like levels soon grow repetitive, as does the limited pool of enemies that you'll face 2 or 3 at-a-time. You play as a dime-store Duke Nukem -- slaying the undead while shouting expletives. It's cheeky fun, but starts to wear thin after the first few maps. . . While I can't give it a negative review because it's a stylish indie title that delivers exactly what it set out to, I can't exactly recommend it for more than a few bucks, at best. Mouse polling/over-scan issues are the chief concern in terms of bugs, but it's better than a DOSBox port.
6/10 For a old school retro game
