Z: Escape is a dark themed runner-shooter platformer game. Z-87 awakens with no memory of who he was, or what he is. Destroying the bio pod in which he was trapped, Z notices the laboratory equipment all around the room. Something horrific has been done to him in this laboratory space station.

Z: Escape is one of literally thousands of retro 2D platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere... and I'm not kidding. Searching for "platformers" on the Steam store page yields over 17,000 results! Is this one of the best of those? Absolutely not. This is a badly made 2.5D retro pixel platformer with a focus on rather badly done shooting elements, which does nothing to help the terrible presentation. Terrible presentation matched with terrible game design... at least there's symmetry. And before we get into the usual faults and problems that so many of these games share, it's worth pointing out the developer conducted a brazen act of theft and fraud... the developer sold keys to this game through a third party bundle seller, kept all the money he got from the key sale, and then revoked the keys for every Steam gamer he got money from. Then, as a slap in the face, he made the game free, once more, keeping all the money he scammed gamers out of. And the developer STILL wants more money for this! Platforming is an old, mostly dead genre, and this lacklustre experience, while it doesn't have an upfront cost, isn't saving the genre... it's no surprise this failed to capture any attention from gamers in the era of immersive 3D gaming. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" textures instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating contemporary 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. Games like Terraria and Stardew Valley succeeded despite the bad graphics, not because of them. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. On pricing and value for gamers, this isn't really free as you're expected to pay up $1 USD to unlock content/DLC, the game should not be considered completely unlocked until you empty your wallet for the developer. This is some nasty, predatory pricing and PC gamers don't like it. And given the developers prior acts of theft and fraud (revoking paid Steam keys and keeping the money while gamers were left without the game they paid for), I can't recommend unlocking the full game... if you give money to an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Nope. This isn't worth downloading. While this didn't cost me any money up front, I still feel ripped off.

Desarrolador mentiroso.
