Xenophage is a fighting game in the same genre as Mortal Kombat. This game features scrolling arenas that also zoom in and out, depending on how far apart the fighters are from each other. This is a unique feature in fighting games. The fighters all come from unique alien planets, so they look very cool and unusual.

Tags: Tournament Combat Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Broken inputs makes game unplayable even after manual configuration. Dosbox era engine does not hold up all that well. Game refused to playback sound on last playtest. Game registers constant phantom inputs no matter how much I try to calibrate the joystick or try to use the keyboard making the game... and sometimes even navigating the menus, impossible Note: I am disappointed I am huge DOS nostalgic guy and this kind of easy to pick up, no fuss casual combat game was just what I needed instead of all the other hard to use game from the era that aged badly. So if this game gets fixed somehow please leave a comment so I can resurect it back in my library.
Killer instingt на минималках!
3/10 - Not a very good fighting game, which unfortunately also crashes very often. In story mode, it usually crashes in the second fight - therefore unplayable.
This is a very old fighting game with none of the charm of Mortal Kombat.
At time of writing this review, I have played this game for only 43 minutes and have no intention of playing more. This game has zero zchievements, so even the achievement hunter in my soul has no reason to relaunch it. I do not like this game, I don’t much care for fighters in general and this was even poor by that standard. Your attacks are limited, the speed the AI can do things is much greater, all around a dumpster fighter. Normally, I can see a fighter and see the merits, even if I personally don’t like the game, I can see there may be an audience. In this case, the game is suffering, not because of challenge but because it controls awfully. Character designs are semi interesting, and I enjoyed the sheer number of the characters that weren’t generic humonids. However, as a fighter, it made it incredibly hard to read the creatures, and see their motions, or even predict what they would do or play like. I tried out each of the characters at one point or another in that short span, and generally enjoyed looking at the idle animation, and the motion of the characters. Game play was hard and sluggish. The UI was ugly and a little hard to read, for example, the timer for the round counter was a green bar that slowly went down as the fight continued. As far as I could find it is very hard to string combos together, and I found that when I did try to remap the inputs, they would always jump back to default the moment I confirmed the changes. So I had to jump from arrow keys or ctrl, LShift, z, and alt, to Home, Del, End, Pgup if I wanted access to all the commands. It was an awkward practice to try and find what was best, in order to do certain doge, or jump actions. Give up movement, or attacks. Music was generic but fine. People who I would recommend it to 1) Anyone who wants to play as ‘Worm’ when he jumps, he can look like a Swastika, and if that is your thing, you have earned this game. People who should not play this 1) Everyone else, the game is bad and not fun to laugh at. In closing, this game is personally not for me, and I don’t see the appeal for people who like fighters.
Xenophage: Alien Bloodsport is a Mortal Kombat copy from the 90s, and I am honestly not sure it was even worth it back then. The graphics were, for the time, acceptable, but have not aged well. The animations feel ill-timed and the controls are beyond horrible. When held up against other fighting games of the age you'd think this was 10 years older than it actually is by how lacking it is in moves and features. This is of course all assuming you can get it to run in the first place. This not being a remaster or having had any updates since the original release in 95 means that it runs very poorly even through the emulator and the chances of you actually being able to complete the game is low at best. Some oldies hold up even decades later if for nothing else but the nostalgia factor but Xenophage is one of those games that should have been left in the 90s.
