This game for now have only one chapter. Some puzzles seems to be counter intuitive. It definetly feels like it have potential for being a nice game, so we have to wait and see what it will become.
Wish Giver 偿愿人, developed by Kel and published by 0Cube, is a small-scale narrative RPG that quietly prioritizes mood and introspection over traditional gameplay depth. Built on a familiar RPG Maker framework, it doesn’t attempt to impress through technical ambition or complex systems. Instead, it draws players in with a subdued, almost ethereal atmosphere and a story that leans into themes of memory, desire, and the quiet consequences of human wishes. It’s the kind of experience that feels intimate rather than expansive, choosing emotional resonance over mechanical variety. The story centers on Ran, a newly assigned “wish giver” who works within a mysterious organization tasked with granting the desires of clients. These wishes are not granted freely—there is always a cost, though the nature of that cost is often ambiguous and emotionally charged. What begins as a seemingly routine assignment quickly becomes something more personal and layered, revolving around a request that is both simple and profound: the wish to live. From there, the narrative unfolds gradually, revealing fragments of a larger reality through conversations, environmental storytelling, and subtle hints rather than direct exposition. The pacing is deliberate, sometimes bordering on slow, but it suits the reflective tone the game is aiming for. Gameplay functions primarily as a vehicle for storytelling. Exploration is limited to small, contained environments where players interact with objects, examine clues, and solve straightforward puzzles. These puzzles rarely challenge the player in a traditional sense; instead, they serve to guide attention and reinforce narrative beats. The design ensures that players remain focused on the unfolding story rather than being distracted by mechanical difficulty. While this makes the game accessible, it also means that those looking for deeper or more varied gameplay systems may find the experience somewhat lacking. The interactivity is present, but it is intentionally minimalistic. Visually, the game adopts a clean, anime-inspired style that complements its tone effectively. Character portraits are expressive and help convey subtle emotional shifts, while the environments are simple yet thoughtfully arranged to support the narrative atmosphere. There is a softness to the presentation that enhances the sense of melancholy running beneath the surface. The soundtrack, though not particularly expansive, contributes to this mood with gentle, understated compositions that reinforce the game’s introspective nature. Together, these elements create a cohesive aesthetic that feels calm on the surface but carries an undercurrent of quiet unease. One of the most notable aspects of Wish Giver 偿愿人 is also its most significant drawback: its incomplete nature. The game presents the foundation of a larger story, introducing ideas and conflicts that suggest a deeper narrative arc, but it concludes before those threads can fully develop. This leaves many questions unanswered and gives the experience a somewhat abrupt ending. Rather than delivering a sense of closure, it feels more like a prologue or the first chapter of a longer work. For some players, this can be frustrating, as the emotional investment built during the game does not receive a satisfying resolution. Despite this limitation, there is a clear sense of sincerity in its design. The writing, while occasionally heavy in dialogue, reflects a genuine attempt to explore thoughtful themes without resorting to spectacle. It invites players to reflect on the nature of wishes, the value of memory, and the quiet burdens carried by both the one who asks and the one who grants. This focus gives the game a distinct identity, even if its scope remains modest. As a free-to-play experience, Wish Giver 偿愿人 is easy to approach and difficult to dismiss outright. It offers a short but emotionally suggestive journey that lingers more in tone than in narrative completeness. It may not satisfy players seeking a fully realized RPG or a mechanically engaging challenge, but it has enough charm and intention to leave an impression. Ultimately, it feels like a fragment of something larger—a glimpse into a world and story that deserved more time to grow. Rating: 7/10
