The content is too little; there is potential for the future. I suggest adding a flat mode. There are too few mods, copper ore is too scarce, and technology costs are too high. I recommend adding a mining drill similar to the one in RimWorld. There is no market to sell manufactured industrial goods, so I suggest adding a trading system, something like Tropico, but preferably not like the harbor system in Anno 1800.
The game has enough content and polish at this point in early development to be worth playing. Can't wait to see what else gets added.
This game is incredible. I can't stop playing. Please help. It's like Factorio all over again. ♥♥♥♥ THE CAT KING
1. As a construction-type game, it is unimaginable that minerals are non-renewable resources, and they cannot be solved through automatic or semi-automatic trade methods 2. It feels strange that natural plant resources are considered non-renewable resources, and in the later stages, it relies entirely on farming? Isn't it too dependent on agriculture? In the later stages, it makes the buildings that collect natural resources become very awkward, and the operation is extremely cumbersome 4 Agriculture is too complicated, has too high a demand for land, yields too little, and is too dependent on weather. It cannot be stably used as a global renewable resource, which is uncomfortable 5. The operation of strata is not intuitive enough 6. Regular tax payments and daily settlements make the gameplay in city-building games extremely awkward and bizarre. Overall, I can only barely recommend this game
Whiskerwood is a very pretty game, and the systems it has in place have a lot of room to grow. I would definitely recommend this game if you have played timberborn or other settlement games. If you think you would like this game, having played similar, I think you would/will get your money's worth. The devs have been pretty communicative on what their working on and they were releasing regular patches through May 2026. They haven't had a patch or update since then but they have also stated that they are working on more content and progression for the game.
The game doing things wrong, adding unnecessary elements which stretch time and make transportation hard. Your villagers manually bring loot 1 by 1 and there is a lot of transportation going on, each building has radius, capacity, worker requirements, terrain needs etc. Workers themself need food, clothes, luxury, clean air, sleep, environment beauty - this is TEDIOUS. Why can't you just make simple games, huh? Like "Anno 2205" where items teleport to storage upon being produced, so player can just have fun. Or like in "Steam World: Build", where you have some conveyors but they are easy to make and progression is fast instead waiting for 30+ boards to be cut, then delivered for a single freaking house. I am so sick of farms and sandbox games where you spent so much time to do anything and it feels like a real-life work. The game is not strategic at all, you just hoard resources, while constructing the same things over and over. It does not feel like city builder, as you often have to place stuff faraway from town, connect islands and then wait for workers to move all the way back to storage to bring or take something. Or you might try making several villages which takes enormous amount of time, effort and resources. It is also not simulation, i don't know why this tag even there, the only danger in this game is debt you have to pay every now and then, but the size of it depends on your own choices, so you can keep it low and pay with whatever grew on farm fields, which eliminates the only survival element there is. It is also demanding to PC, causing overheat all the time. Days are quite short, causing game to constantly change seasons and bring in more ships while you don't want it, it is same irritation like in Anno 2205 with naval battles, but atleast there you can turn them off permanently. Overall Whiskerwood is very basic tasteless game that does not utilizes mice at all, they just act like humans, so what was a point? They grow human food, work in human buildings and have human requirements. Wtf, why you so lazy? Look at "Against the Storm" - every race has their own requirements and preferred jobs that suit them. I think i am done with this game, there is no way to save it from such a rough state, the core ideas and mechanics implemented are just wrong and unsuitable. It is NOT FUN.
Well, I've been playing this for 100+ hours already. I must say this is another well polished early access game I have bought. I have only bought two other early access games in the past. Can't wait to see what else the developers add to this game. It's great they listen to the community from the latest patch #22. One thing that would be awesome to see is water physics so you can flood an old mine that's underground. And on top of that reclaim said flooded mine. Also this is one other game I wish I didn't get when it was on sale. I just hope the developers don't loose passion for this game. But overall, well done Minakata Dynamics for bringing us this outstanding game and also Hooded Horse.
I didn't think I'd get addicted to that game, but here we are... This is a really fun city builder with enough complexity to keep you captivated if you use all it offers. Playing with the verticality and all the "production" technologies is really key and my favorite thing. Conveyor belts were a little frustrating at the start, until I decided to go creative with how they are installed. They might cost a lot at first, like for rails you can change them easily when you have more funds. I love this game's ambiance, it reminds me of An American Tail. The Whiskers are very cute, and I got very attached to them. One of my favorite thing is the little noises they make when something happens (when they fall, or if you move them or fire them). The game is still in Early Access, but it feels almost done, and it's very cool to see how involved the team is. I reported a bug on Discord, a dev jumped on it within hours and it was fixed during the next patch. If there's one thing I wish to be added, it would be Trading system that doesn't only rely on the Smugglers inventory. I get that the game is trying to introduce complexity by having to juggle between the needs/wants of the Smugglers/Pirates/Claws, but having a way to Import/Export goods to other Whiskers colonies would be fun.
